  1. Gosh, that’s a difficult one.
  2. Oh, and to make things worse, it was one of those rooms without an opening window but with two air-conditioning units on one wall. They switched on for half an hour or so until we were freezing, then switched themselves off, so the room got warmer and warmer until we were almost at the boiling point...and repeat. Very healthy environment! (Not!)
  3. That’s a lovely quiet mooring on the Barton Turf Staithe. Handy water point and waste bins nearby, if I recall correctly. Just a shame there’s no electric. Still, it seems fairly mild for March temperature wise.
  4. My boss has suggested that I work from home as much as possible, as I’ve been ‘bought-out’ of my normal job, and it doesn’t matter so much if I’m not in the office. Mind you, yesterday I had to attend an all day presentation featuring a couple of Dutch guys who had flow in the day before to give us a demo of an IT system. Whoever did the room booking crammed us into a room designed for half the number. We were like sardines. Just what you need when a virus scare is ramping up! Sigh.
  5. Yay! Do you have any more mystery photos for us?
  6. If it’s not Polkey’s Mill as Mr NN suggested, I haven’t a clue. Good game though!
  7. Compared to February it seems (well, judging from what it’s like tonight in MK) relatively balmy. Hope it’s the same on the upper reaches of the Ant. One good thing...having been on Moonlight Shadow during a storm, it has given us confidence that it’s not too bad on board in stormy weather. Glad we didn’t try to move off our home mooring during the worst of it though.
  8. I was going to say Cockshoot Broad moorings, but I think there’s some sort of tidal height measure thingy on the corner that I had in mind. Back to the drawing board...
  9. Very sensible Jean. Hope the wind drops for you tomorrow. A least you are getting some sunshine. That always helps, as well as Sutton being a sheltered spot. Enjoy the rest of your time afloat.
  10. Surlingham Ferry. A very wild guess. (I can almost hear the ‘tuh’s’). ...and it’s no use starting off a gin menu theme. Love it, but can’t afford it, apart from the very occasional treat. Gin menu = crazy prices!
  11. Thank goodness! Paul at Swancraft was really helpful when we needed to get Moonlight Shadow pumped out and refuelled whilst the Brooms kiosk was closed, but with all the ‘breezes’ we had in February it was a bit more stressful anticipating that we needed to get up the Dyke to Swancraft than just our normal refuelling at Brooms.
  12. I’ve heard it said ‘by an expert’ that, in the case of this particular virus, Chinese authorities dealt with it quickly and (apparently) transparently, compared with previous pandemics where they were slow to share info with the international community.
  13. Yes, I'm sure sewage is not good news either. I just thought it might disperse a bit more readily than oil.
  14. Maybe because sewage will disperse more quickly and naturally? I would think what the oil could be quite a problem for flora and fauna if it got swept downstream.
  15. I’m confused too, as I had assumed the outlet was for treated water. Sewage farms do tend to pong in the summer. The Milton Keynes one is helpfully placed not far off junction 14 of the M1...so we get a fine whiff in the summer as a ‘welcome‘ home when returning from the Broads.
  16. I’ve never been into a Lush store. Can’t stand even waking past. It just smells too strong. I’m the type that buys mostly unscented soap etc. due to having had allergic reactions to various face creams, so strong perfumes tend to make me feel yuk.
  17. I've been wondering why Hoveton Little Broad was also known as Black Horse Broad. This forum is a real mine of info.
  18. I read a few reviews saying the Royal Oak Beccles is still dog friendly despite having converted to a pizza place. Good reviews for the pizza too.
  19. This is one of the more unusual thread drifts I’ve seen on a holiday blog for some time. Curry...diets...old age. Has anyone tried a takeaway from the Thai place in Wroxham?
  20. Yes, the Swan in Loddon is dog friendly. I think the bar area was quite spacious. At least it was when we visited a few years ago.
  21. I agree John, I too rely on other people’s holiday blogs to keep me going until our next visit. Thanks for all the recent tales...and haven’t there been more February tales than usual?
  22. I have two screens at work too. It makes the aspects of my my work where I’m having to compare or transfer data so much easier. Recently Ive switched from having a PC to a docked smallish laptop, but still linked via the dock to those screens The laptop is also a boon if I have work remotely for some reason, much easier than having to use a VPN with my own laptop. We have also recently had some training events where we have been asked to bring our laptops with us. (How’s that for thread drift!)
