  1. When going through an area where there's a regatta or race I was always told to hug the right hand bank, go slow, and close my eyes!, (Lying about the eyes!) That way I just get treated like a part of the bank, muddy, covered in moss and rather dense
  2. Ah, yes, could be a slight problem there !
  3. Very recently we changed from a three way fridge to a 240 domestic under counter from Currys at £99, with a 2.5kW inverter and a 480amp hr battery bank along with a 120amp alternator running a sterling digital regulator we can quite happily sit for 2-3 days without running the engine and still have plenty of ice for the g n t's ! And even better, with some very careful shopping the whole shebang came in at just under 650 most of which were the batteries that needed replacing anyway!
  4. Got a fridge as well! I've only used it on 12 and 240v but as far as I know should be fine on gas as it was connected when we got the boat but I wasn't comfortable using it on gas so disconnected it. We've now upgraded to a mains fridge with an inverter On the bay at a 50 start open to forum offers!

  7. or how about those da*m trousers with the crotch dragging round the knees with the undercrackers on display for everyones edification????
  8. Reading further into that Ofgem document, it seems that Ofgem state that any costs incurred due to the supply infrastructure, e.g the posts themselves, cabling, maintenance and supply must be met by an alternative funding stream and not from an increase in the unit price to the end user? I stand to be corrected if this is not the case
  9. so sorry to hear that Poppy, my first call would be to the banking ombudsman, followed by publicity, maybe watchdog? or try the money saving expert website I find there is a lot of very good advice on there.

  16. Hi speedtriple, no its not a hire yard and I don't want to name on a public forum as one bad experience is not an excuse to possibly damage anyones reputation. Yeah its beginning to look like easter is going to be a non starter........ in many ways!!!!! unfortunately we are not in a position to be able to afford to hire as every penny we have is reserved for the boat fund

  18. Damn you April had me going for a minute there
  19. Hi all, first off, i had no idea really where to put this so mods if its in the wrong place please can you move it ? thanks and sorry We are in a bit of a situation with our boat, re its engine, its a BMC 1.5 that needs a rebuild from the bottom up, and its been a heartache from the start 3 months ago. i managed to get a second engine with low hours( or so i thought) late last year and rebuilt her myself the only thing i didnt touch was the pistons and bores as they held fuel for two days in the cylinders, i live and learn as you have probably gathered by now we are on a tight budget. long story short, we are now in the position where she is in a yard that shall remain nameless and has been there for the last 2 months, they have been helpful with advice but were asked to rebuild the engine 2 months ago and have got as far as removing the engine, thats it! when i asked them to do the job i said we had a holiday booked for the last week in march and was told it would be tight but she should be ready. im now being told they cant even start till after easter is there anyone that might be able to do a rebuild job before then? we are even looking at buying an engine complete and just getting them to fit it. can anyone help or offer advice as we have a holiday booked for the second week in april and are REALLY desperate
  20. Absolutely couldn't agree more
