  1. I am not one for frequent or long posts as I prefer to loiter and read the posts and opinions of those who are generally much more accomplished at putting their thoughts into the written word, for the first time I would like to say that I heartily agree with all the above sentiments and would like to say to everyone - have a happy and healthy Christmas , and a great new year
  2. Hi socrates, loving the write up! Ignore the armchair admirals I know exactly how you feel Rosalind is over the other side of the marina from you and I have had to replace almost all the interior, cabin and sliding roof sides on a tight budget, and still more to go Just have to say though that I have always loved the ripple craft style , they have a look and class all their own, I'm not envious at all ! Much lol
  3. We run a 460 amp hr battery bank, 100 watt solar panel, 100 amp alternator, 2.5kw inverter and a 240v domestic fridge, works beautifully. I already had the alternator fitted and with some careful shopping the new batteries fridge and inverter came to less than the cost of a waeco of half the capacity!
  4. Hey Robin, have you thought about having a permanent fuel conditioning system installed, like this maybe? https://www.htsspares.com/catalogue/oil-and-lube/fuel/fuel-tank-accessories/show/hol0228
  5. Another vote for ovo here, saved me a fortune
  6. No problem at all with doing that Robin, I went into quite some detail about doing exactly that on Rosalind, the only thing that stopped me in the end was once I had costed all the parts needed plus the work for me to do,it worked out cheaper and easier for me to install a diesel heater But I think someone on here has done it, just can't remember who!
  7. After feeling very pleased with myself for executing a perfect stern on mooring at a packed Wroxham public staith with a nasty crosswind I strode masterfully up to the bow in front of my appreciative audience, picked up the mud weight and with a mighty heave cast it gracefully into the river, then remembered just to late I had forgotten to loop the rope around the front cleat after coiling it And it wasn't floating rope At least I gave everyone a good laugh
  8. Absolutely perfect! Mine's called Tom.....?,Tim.....?, erm, Phyllis? ...............help?

  11. Thanks to all I should be able to source an adapter now
  12. No, not a sewing question Would anyone happen to know what size thread the water temperature sensor hole is on a bmc1500? It's in the side of the thermostat housing on the head. As I have a new sensor that's apparently 1/4 npt whatever that is and it's too small so I need to get an adapter, if anyone knows I would be eternally grateful
  13. Happy birthday Andrew Essex boy born n bred and would love to live in Suffolk!

  17. My very first was that bridge (very unplanned! )I was 13, I can't remember exactly what boat it was but it was from I think alpha craft at st olaves, mum, dad and me had been coming to the broads every year since I was 4 and I had been helming since I could reach the controls, but never taken anything through bridges, that year was the first for a long time we had gone north and dad wasn't too well. We had gone up to potter with the tide to visit lathams, mum's favourite!, dad was helming, we had nearly reached the end of the moorings by the pilots cabin and dad had a bad turn that later we found out was a mild heart attack, mum panicking, dad on the floor, I grabbed the wheel by which time it was either hit the bridge or aim for the hole so I went for it and probably thanks to dumb luck made it and moored up by the broads tavern. It was a few years before I fancied trying a bridge again! BTW dad was OK after a brief stop in hospital
  18. Hi all, we're trying to find out a bit more of the history of our old girl Rosalind 15H and have come to a bit of a dead end, I was wondering if anyone has any memories or maybe photos of her in her previous existence? On Craig's website she's listed as a Brink's Dawncraft DC 30 from 1965 but no history prior to 2004 when she was in Horning as Time Gentlemen Please, from this I would imagine that she has been away from the Broads for some time and has been re registered with a different number. She appears to be the only one with round cornered windows and a porthole for the toilet area midships. Since taking her over I have had to replace nearly everything apart from the roof and hull as she was seriously rotten :-( . If anyone has any memories or information that may help that would be fantastic as we would love to be able to know if she had ever been on the hire fleet or not, sorry it's not much to go on but we're floundering a bit ( not unusual! ) Dave
  19. Ah ha! Wondered why you'd moved !
