  1. What is that yacht? Almost plumb stem, flat if not reverse sheer’, cabin mounted tabernacle, enterprise blue sails on a Bermudan rig. Comfortable vessel I’m shore!
  2. Grendel, is there a swimming pool nearby? From your write ups last season a daily dip, or every other day, for 30 mins would surely do the trick? Works for me, not long til they reopen.
  3. Could be that one or the newer one from King Street back of the vicinity of Dragon Hall to riverside opposite the cinema entrance/ Queen of Iceni area plaza? Also Carrow bridge. Also I know they’re beyond the limit of navigation these days but what about Tonnage etc. carrying on up the Ant? I seem to recall someone saying that hire boats were navigating up to East Ruston as recently as in the 60s?
  4. Jab nr 1 done yesterday morning, bit of a headache in the evening, sore arm in bed from 3am so good job I had an early nite. Flu type aches now and still a bit of a dull head but hoping another early nite will be an end to the minor discomfort. At least I know the needle went in, roll on June! Paracetamol didn’t seem to make much difference but I guess I would otherwise be feeling worse. Thanks Oxford & AZ!
  5. Speedcamera van on eBay, Fiat Ducato, straight from police, 79k miles, insulated, heater. Food for thought.
  6. Motorhomes do seem to be in short supply like caravans. Have you thought about a conversion project? Old securicor van perhaps, not much call for cash at the moment so may be going for a song. Maybe some spare buses around soon too... seriously though there’s plenty of companies converting vans these days.
  7. Had the pleasure of meeting Peter Wigg at Oulton week, a real character who honed in on the fact that I and company were obviously from Hickling, (it was indeed written on co’s transom so the game was probably given away). I reflected afterwards that he may have been related to my eldest aunts first husband, also a Wigg schooled in Suffolk, hence the Hickling interest. Will never know for sure but would be a happy coincidence.
  8. Robson Green has bought it so the rumour goes... I started it!
  9. Maybe some sailing after dark too, to a wild mooring perhaps or mud weighting on a rhond, can’t beat that nighther!
  10. Didn’t have you down as a Coventry supporter lol
  11. Looks like Hill Common Hickling, if Sutton mill was the tallest I'd feel sure Hickling' was the second (or equal to other second's), seem to think it was one storey less than Sutton.
  12. Those wheels & tyres don’t look standard either, good job it’s not an ice rink they’re racing on!
  13. First jab booked for Tuesday, guesstimate the second will be early June. Quite pleased as Im at the extreme low end of the current cohort age band. Wont be letting the guard down at all though, know someone who has been struck down with Covid about 3 weeks after the first AZ jab. Only time my younger wife has been jealous of my advancing years lol.
  14. Some go to landfill, some get laid up as static accommodation air bnb etc, some of the smaller ones go in the garden, get filled up with topsoil and flowers planted!
  15. With St.Patricks day looming it could be used as a substitute in black velvet perhaps.... Getting back on topic it’s not easy to book a boat you may fancy in August, especially if you want all mod cons and the modernest of craft. Not everybody does of course but there’s plenty of paying punters who won’t settle for anything less than the best. It’s going to be a very busy season by the looks of it and thankfully so.
  16. Glad to hear NW is still going, drove past yesterday on the school run, either closed or empty, car park was certainly empty. Saw on faceplate today that a surgery in Cromer have 80 appointments for Saturday not filled, if over 60 or Group 5 please contact.... I don’t qualify (yet) but would happily soak up the capacity!
  17. Nuclear hasn’t made it to Norfolk yet, not exactly sure where the secret bunker is other than somewhere in Kleveland Hatch, on the country lane between Chipping Ongar and Brentwood under the 1950s farm bungalow postcode CM14 5TL. Norfolk does or did have Tussauds house of wax listed though...
  18. Hmmm, I’m not 100% on this, Burnham Market is closer to fhl but very expensive and hence London-on-sea. Head east and you will stumble upon the Runtons which seem to be popular with those from Leicestershire. Head on to Mundesley and you’re talking Essex money. But if you don your flat cap and head a bit further south (albeit east) to Bacton/Walcott/Ostend then you can pick up a prefab for the price of sloping terrace maybe? Now, if you’re talking beer prices...
  19. Like you marshman I am local but if I hadn’t spun past them on my bike I would probably not have known about it either. The guide to uncommon British days out will probably pick it up next update but in the meantime I recommend it to all wherever you may holiday! This attraction would be right up there with the lawnmower museum, Cumberland pencil museum, secret nuclear bunker (signposted off the A12) etc.
  20. Less litter, I know because I’ve biked through Essex on my way to London and the verges were awash with it. There’s lots of essexes in Mundesley!
  21. Add to the tally The Pleasure Boat Heckling but beware of that bridge!
