  1. Just thought id start this topic with my father in law naval exploites.He couldnt swim but joined the Navy cos he thought hed have a good chance of surviving the war, he did.Despite being sunk 3 times, hes life jacket saved him.On mtbs out of Lowestoft patroling the North sea and Channel,taking on the German boats who were slower but made of metal so not so easy tu sink.Often out running the emeny, but in a fire fight taking in water, trying to stem the in coming water below decks with the bunks mattres!Our boats were made of wood so faster. The only time he ever talked about the war was when many years ago whilst moored at Oulton along side a sea cadets mtb, the scouts welcomed him aboard and hence he told me some of his naval stories.His only regret was that the navy introduced him to smoking!!
  2. We hired it last August, its in front of the shop by the pump out sign,pump out not working at least it wasnt last year.
  3. We hired Red Arrow from Pearsons.Lovely Alpha boat, last time i saw her was years ago she was one of the Ricos hire fleet.
  4. Again one of our favourite places to eat and drink,stay.Not the cheapest but the quality is up there with the RS, we dont mind paying if its good and we enjoy it .
  5. One of our favourite places to eat, the food is always very good.We have also stayed there, and the breakfast is very very good.
  6. Totally agree, weve been going in there for so long that Wendy the owner now recognises us.Great food and weather permitting sitting on the terrace watching the world go by takes some beating.
  7. The Wroxham hotel and the Recruiting Sergeant both have a good range of beers and excellent food.

  9. I met Alan last year at Horning Pleasure Craft marina,we had a long chat about everything to to with the broads.A loverly man ,condelances to his family and friends.RIP Alan.
  10. At the London stadium last week they played in a sort of .........brown, ugh.
  11. New quay heading was being installed last month in the freezing cold by Gus
  12. Thats a relief as we plan to moor at Potter on Sunday and have a table booked at the Falgate, never been before so looking forward to it.

  14. I got done in the road behind the Recruiting Seargeant by a mobile camera van.I was doing 34 in a 30 mph zone.Did a speed awarness course as punishment.
  15. Ive got a 3 litre diesel XF,the heated front seats have taken a bashing this week. I may be forced to reluctantly sell it if the London Mayor has hes way as its not ULEZ compliant,and i refuse to pay £12 .50 every time i want to visit my daughter who lives in the London borough Bexley.

    Im not jealous,much!Im due a week on MS 2nd week in January but the crew {Lesley} doesnt seem that keen,cant think why?
  19. Have a great time Malcolm,In August our first time on MS we all went to the Ferry for tea and were pleasantly surprised with the food,but sadly on our last night we were pretty disappointed with the quality.It will be interesting to see what happens when the place has been refurbished.

  21. The fishing this year has been bonkers,the best by far that i have ever encountered. We were on the Northern broads 2 weeks ago and cought every where we went, over 100 fish.Thurne dyke.the Ant,Ranworth Island.Sutton Staithe,Potter,and even in Barnes marina. Have a great time, let us know how it went down South. Kevin
  22. Ive always been a champion of the Lion,but have to say that the last 2 times we have eaten there the meals have been average at best.Such a shame but hopefully they will get there act together.
