  1. As I said on the facebook thread,
  2. I've heard of it but always thought it was an urban myth type thing.
  3. We use that but see below I don't think it does, Used by the Army lads in Scotland too but like you I keep forgetting to use it :( Mozzies aren't such a problem in that they don't seem to inject the itchy stuff, I think my blood thinners mean they don't have to, but they do still prick me and I used to wake up with a trail of dried blood running down from wherever they've been feeding. I've just checked and last nights bag was 2 house flies, 3 moths, 5 mozzies and too many midges to count :)
  4. No it's 240v, I looked everywhere for a 12v one that was a decent size but no joy :(
  5. I think I'm finally winning. Hot weather and not much wind means they have been a huge pest but this baby sorts them out I might even have to clean get the BCE to clean the spiders webs of the outside of the boat now :)
  6. A bit like fish and chips at Potter during the Three Rivers :)
  7. Acle Spice, an Indian takeaway, deliver to quite a few places on the Broads and are excellent.
  8. I'm with you on that one. I won't spend money in a pub that isn't dog friendly even if the dogs aren't with me. I don't count letting them in the garden as dog friendly though. I have been known to have a pint and a meal at the New Inn (Horning) though cos at least they have the veranda bit. We were really pleased when we heard that Roy was taking it over hoping it would be like the Maltsters "any where except the kitchen". I hope the people that have finally taken over are proper dog friendly. Dogs belong in pubs, especially in a rural area.
  9. A mate of mine told me had a new job serving meals to unemployed drunks and drug addicts. "Oh, Salvation Army?" I asked "No" he replied "Weatherspoons"
  10. This is all a bit 'Harry Potter' isn't it. "he who must not be named" "Oh you mean Voldermort"

I honestly wasn't talking about those that are shielding. Excuses I have heard so far include: I was told end of July so I've booked and paid for a weeks holiday they were also told they could be recalled with 48hrs notice The kids aren't back at school yet so no childcare keyworkers so the kids can go to school And the best.......... I'm too busy

I also think the whole furlough thing has turned into a deadbeats dream. Debs has spent the last week notifying people they are coming off furlough early and you wouldn't believe some of the excuses why they shouldn't.

I think this is the crux of the matter. And while I acknowledge MMs comment about razor blades I think we are entitled to expect a bit more of the people who are running the country.
  14. Are you thinking of Surlingham Ferry House? You do need to think about what the tide is doing there and it's very important to use your mudweight. The rise and fall isn't too much there, not like further downstream but the flow can be quite strong. Using the center cleats helps as it gives you longer lines.
  15. Ahh but at our age we have built up a decent immune system. Kids today probably don't eat mud, worms, newts etc. :)
  16. I see Suffolk is one of the areas that could , like Leicester, go back into lockdown https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1302680/lockdown-map-local-lockdown-Coronavirus-cases-near-me-full-list
  17. Some boats have wifi but data coverage is pretty poor on the whole. Three is about the best I think
  18. I think the Northern Broads are all about the places you stop at, Southern are all about the journey :)
  19. It's only £500 really, it's that dreaded BAT (boat added tax) It's like Lathams, £1 shop stock with added boat tax :)
  20. I had so much trouble finding an electrician that I am doing the exams so I can do it myself. To be fair that was for 12v stuff and to sort out the nest of wiring that was my battery box. I wanted an electrician to give me a quote to sort it all out. Then I thought to myself, for years you've worked on 12/24v on vehicles, pulled my big boy pants up and did it myself.
  21. It was just jammed in the intake. :( (and my last post should have said surveyed not serviced)
  22. Maybe I'm paranoid about them because when we had Cockatoo serviced we did a river trial and then it was lifted out one of the raw water inlets was blocked by a lily pad which must've happened while we were coming in as the engine temps had been closely monitored throughout the trial.
  23. You'll very likely find that the sender was genuine, it was the order that was a scam and the people trying to collect it are the scammers. It's an old one that has been going the rounds for years. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
