  1. The imagined dangers... You may be right, it is easy to be overcautious I guess The belief that the rivers belong to specific individuals... That isn't what this thread is about, no one has expressed that view. In fact I went so far as to say I'd be happy to see stretches closed to motor traffic for these events.
  2. Not you Gracie, just a couple of other posts seemed to suggest that those urging caution were not in favour of sharing the rivers. No one could suggest you meant any harm x
  3. This thread has taken an odd turn, I don't think anyone actually complained about sharing the rivers, it was safety issues and paddle boards are indeed easy to spot.... however depending on your helm position it can be hard to spot a canoe under your bow. especially inexperienced helms at pinch points. I would happily see a stretch of river closed to motor craft for such an event personally. The 3 Rivers Race does attract the attention of a lot of disgruntled helms but I'm not one of them.
  4. The problem is seeing them, I don't want to spoil anyone's fun but motor cruisers and kayaks etc. mix about as well as traffic and pedestrians especially on narrow/busy stretches.
  5. and yet here you are not understanding or using the word woke properly! "What is the Collins Dictionary definition of woke? 1. Woke is the past tense of wake. 2. adjective. Someone who is woke is very aware of social and political unfairness."
  6. What is also hard to believe is that a member of the public complained about them using their blue lights...
  7. I shall walk the pooch, cut the grass and do a bit of weeding, there may be a nap after lunch. Very best wishes to the King and Queen, it's just that all the pomp and ceremony bores me to tears. I can't help it, it's nothing personal and I too hope everyone enjoys their day.

It does indeed help, thank you. I'm generally sceptical but not enough this time! Posted in good faith though.

" I have the following warning for dog owners from a reputable source... 6 dogs have died having visited Beccles Common. Believed to be due to pest control measures. Please don't walk any dogs there unless you know it to be safe. This information is ok to share anywhere dog owners may read it"

Tesco's have them for delivery Ian and I'm pretty sure the van comes from GY
  12. Danni is our 5th rescue dog in a row and I had 2 as a child. 100% rewarding with the odd "what do I do now' moment 🙂
  13. Brilliant memory! It's what I think of as an 'adventure' in true Famous 5 tradition. (It was called "going out" when Gill and I started dating in the 70s too 😁)
  14. You've given him a safe, happy and loving home, you're his whole world ♥️ Thank goodness for people like you 👍👍🙂
  15. I'm not sure that I meant camping on water literally lol It was more a comparison with yachts in the south of France... there in an element of roughing it, one that I enjoy immensely 👍😁
  16. Danni isn't that keen, but she sleeps to the engine noise while we're under way and gets nice walks before and after a cruise plus she gets to sleep on top of us at night so she makes the best of it and she has improved the more she gets used to it.. If it really came down to dog or boat then the boat would go, it would break my heart but that's better than breaking hers 🙂
  17. That's an interesting post Chris, it made stop and rethink. I wonder if there is enough 'new blood' to sustain big fleets, it's an interesting point. Is it better to sell exclusivity at a premium or stack em high and sell em cheap (relatively). Also what if those paying for a one off experience don't have a good (very expensive) week? In today's world enough bad reviews can kill a business, even if they are not fair. I'm glad these are not business decisions that I have to make!
  18. I think that marketing a Broads boating holiday as camping on the water would see a lot more return customers than some sort of South of France millionaire vacation. It's Norfolk, it's beautiful but there is always a fair chance of mud, cold, tin pie dinner went you can't moor at a pub and a blocked WC It's a wonderful holiday, beautiful boats with all mod cons can make it glamping on the water but it can't make it a 5* hotel or Michelin restaurant. Raising expectation to something aspirational rather than realistic sounds like the quickest way to disappoint people who are paying a lot of money.... and as for the frustrated entitled's reaction to real life v marketing fantasy! It won't be pretty!
  19. Great photos, your new boy has a brilliant cheeky face! 👍
  20. They boot up very quickly....
  21. Elastic shoelaces... having tried them as a complete sceptic I now think they're great. Fit them once and any ordinary shoe becomes a slip on, they stretch as you insert your foot but always go back to a nice tight fit, although you can readjust them if necessary I've never had to.
  22. I agree with the principle Ian but I think they'd just say you shouldn't have moored there if it's not suitable for your boat. Which raises another whole raft of questions about losing (suitable) moorings!
  23. In earlier days of the internet I have Admined and Moderated on various platforms... herding cats would be a fair description I believe 😁
  24. That is a beautiful part of the world, one of our favourites 🙂
  25. I looked at a map and think it is listed as Quayway It looks like that's the one on the map 👍
