  1. Recycling back to the tank means the system can run for much longer and pass through a few times, rock the boat as much as you can while the polishing setup is running to stir it up as well as the crud will settle and will only be stirred when you hit choppy water (not that it's going to happen badly on the broads even on breydon). Most river/coastal boats are fine until they get the first good shake up then it stops abruptly in the worst place it can find.
  2. A pipe to the bottom would be better as the pick up probably leaves a dead area below where the crud and water collects, slight slash cut to the end would help.
  3. Ebay it, lots of folk camping this year, or freecycle. In the bin is a waste.
  4. The steps to the flat will be well illuminated by the landing lights.
  5. Nothing worse than having to face a loft ladder when your desperate... Some of the canal liveaboard bunch carry a hose and pump setup so they can empty in any handy sewer manhole close enough to the towpath, a mate of mine did. If a PP is used as a seat in a compact shower room beware as there is a void between the two halves that held a bottle of the chemical when new, it fills with soapy shower water and soaks your tee shirt when walking through the boat to empty it and fills you with dread as you hold it as close as possible to contain the leak that you assume is from the tank, finding it's just shower water is a welcome relief. Or so I'm told, not me honest like...
  6. So we should all sh#t over the side to keep down then?
  7. If you have no other toilet facilities onboard there is nothing wrong with a portapotti, once you have used and emptied one the dread goes, as long as you press the vent button when emptying or they splatter..... Make the rule 'first to use for solid empties it'.
  8. For 10k ish and inland only craft insure are highly recommended. https://www.craftinsure.com/?referrer=NormanBoats

Resistor the temptation of joining the power line of posts considering the current tos.
  10. If you heading to ely you may as well do st.ives while you are at it, Jones normally have a good sale line and it can change quickly.
  11. Of coarse the advantage of 6'10" beam is the whole canal system opens up to you and most narrowbeam grp boats are well within trailer size for moving around to a different system when you fancy a change of scenery. I did years on narrowbeam boats but I think I'd find it hard to go back after having the extra space.
  12. The first three are worth a look just to have a wander around Jones yard, they shift a lot of boats there and have a great shiney thing shop, or as we call them swindleries chandleries.
  13. While covid is around I doubt 10k will get that much as boats/campers/caravans have been getting snapped up by the staycation brigade, give it 18 months and the market may well be flooded with good deals as people get to go abroad again without issues and realise the mooring/tolls/insurance cost more than the boat after a few years unless you use it often enough.
  14. Mudweight over the river side of the boat has always been recommended in norwich ys.
  15. If it's got the cav type filter housings they are a sod for ending up with 2 o-rings in the top section causing an air leak, you can't always tell if the old one is still in place if in a slightly tricky position so the second one distorts and allows air in, filters are often in a place high enough to get a decent jug under for filter changes so you never get to see diesel leak out, just air gets in.
  16. I've changed my mine now I know there could be an idiot badge, I WANT ONE! And I'd like to make some nominations too......
  17. I'm with Grendel on this one, I may just hang a plastic bag on the washing line and watch it degrade in the sunshine, paint drys to quick these days.
  18. Unless it's a good boy sticker... Sorry, couldn't resist.
  19. A good plan Grendel, leave them for the 'like obsessed' faceache kiddies.
  20. Noooo! Don't ask that one, you'll get badges next...... See forum downupgrade thread.
  21. Albies have always taken a dog but it was book through rail company when the lines were up.
