  1. Agree, best to check with the yard. The iron should have a label somewhere giving the consumption in watts. All ex Swancraft boats for example had 1400 watt inverters but some have smaller 200 or 300 watts which won't be powerful enough. Don't want to go blowing any fuses so best to ask. What boat are you on?
  2. ...or Surlingham Ferry darn sarf.
  3. Bridge at Acle. Top pub and big garden.
  4. I suspect the lady of the house may be behind this JM
  5. I'd be very interested too Vaughan. Went in quite often, one of few pubs selling real ale back in the Watneys days. Nice drop of Adnams. Sods law, pre digital era I never thought to take a photo. It's gone now of course. I wonder if Carol might be able to help? I must get in touch with her anyway so I will ask.
  6. Depends on the wattage. Some boats have 1400 watt inverters - if it's say 1000 watts you may be OK. Best to check with the yard. Wouldn't be able to use it for long periods.
  7. Thanks Lady V. Probably crime scene stuff and all that but not really classified info!
  8. In a similar vein Broads Beat have Twitted about 'an incident' at Wroxham Bridge. It's very irritating to get these veiled references without any back up.
  9. In the early days we had some, shall I say, 'robust' moderators, who got very hot under the collar about references to other forums, principally the NBF. There were a couple of big bust ups about it, so many folk now, including me, refer to it as the other place, over there and such like. That's probably the main alternative but you do of course have Facebook and vociferous individuals such as Mr Weston. I've no idea what this particular one refers to however. It might be more polite if folks exchanged PM's privately as to announce them on the Forum does make it seem a bit cliquey I agree
  10. Ah, pray tell JM Wasn't there a Speakers Corner one? (sorry, going off topic)
  11. I can see them now JM!!! I think it must be my computer blocking them for some reason. Some very good points, particularly the reference to Acle, Stokesby etc I see our friend Mr Mardler is getting stuck in there! Haven't heard from him for a while unless he goes under another title!!
  12. As I mentioned earlier, I think its more about the spirit of it, rather than the letter of the law. The idea was that holidays would commence on 4th July, so technically I suppose 00.01 on the day is legal. Someone mentioned that yards maybe did the right thing by staggering departures and if the sheer volume at Herbert Woods was anything to go by, it maybe wasn't a bad idea. I don't think anyone is going to end up in court over it. Anyway, at least we are not having an apoplexy about it and chucking our teddys about!!
  13. I wonder if it's the tow boat that moored up at the pump out place at Great Yarmouth? Other side from the Yacht Station. I've an idea the guy used to post, either on here or t'other side. Called himself Knackered Sailor or something similar. Of course I could be completely up the creek as usual
  14. Can't seem to see the comments However JM and ECIPA have hit the nail well and truly on the head.
  15. Good! Hope he gets nicked! I haven't tried to get in a pub yet. Me and Mrs Nog are testing the water on Wednesday when hopefully it will have settled down. We have a table booked. Mrs N is eyeing up the gin menu already
  16. Maybe the BA spotted the ploy about trying to prove it's not viable as a pub? But on the same basis they would never allow holiday lets which wouldn't be viable anyway. So what's left? Residential or demolition? It did trade successfully as a pub for many years albeit in different times. Could be politics, maybe between the owner and BA - we will probably never know. Also if the moorings are unsafe why did the BA acquire a stretch of them? It's all very murky.
  17. Swancraft have a very nice looking Broom for sale! Lot of boat for the money! Broom 30 for sale. 1972, 4 berths (1 double and two singles or two doubles), dual steer, Perkins 4-107 diesel with Borg Warner gearbox. warm air heating, electric fridge, 1 x electric toilet and holding tank, 1 x manual toilet to sea, bowthruster, recently out of the water for clean and antifoul. Regularly serviced. Ready to go for the season. £24,950 (possible mooring available)
  18. That does seem much more likely given some were out yesterday. Maybe heading for a night out on Prince of Wales Road!
  19. They must have been going against the tide all the way to Yarmouth. And got there a bit after high tide. No problem with flat batteries then (presume they must have been an early leaver- could have set off Friday night, but even so a fair clog)
  20. Good grief. Even clogging it and favourable tides I would think, fag packet calculation, eight hours non stop.
