  1. I think Andrew was a tad tongue in cheek there Actually the dinghy is a good idea. Mudweight or moor on the island. No problem. You would need to moor the dinghy of course, some clown might block the dinghy Dyke. Be good for Horning too, moor on Percy's Island.
  2. Chances of Ranworth are probably akin to winning the lottery. Agree with Jean, best chance would be 10.30 to 11ish. If it's full try dropping the mudweight as near to the moorings as you can. Keep a sharp look out and if you see anyone preparing to depart, hail them if you can and move into position without blocking their exit. We did this once in summer but you need to be quick! I only did this to get in the Ship though
  3. Nice thought Simon but I wouldn't envy you trying to find a mooring!
  4. .......just looked at Hoseasons website out of curiosity. Searching on 4th July, just 22 boats available and a good few are the Brooms/WRC luxury (sic) ones. Of course maybe not all the boats are prepared for hire. But I'd hate to be heading for Horning or Ranworth in just over a week!
  5. In a diluted form possibly. I think there has been some activity around Horstead Mill with the fine weather. Caen Meadow used to be a popular spot with the local yoof, not sure if it still is. Its going to be busy. Much as I love the Broads I'm glad I'm not going to be out in it!
  6. Mansfield Been trying to avoid the poo up to now
  7. You've certainly come to the right place then!
  8. Usual story really, you get what you pay for. Older boat, cheaper but maybe a bit tired and or basic. Maybe best to go for the best you can afford. Having said that it's not cheap in August. Pacific are very good and lovely people. Their fleet is a little older and therefore not as up to date as some and the price reflects this. Plus an hour up and down the Chet beginning and end. Good as they are maybe not the best for a first timer. The likes of Richardsons and Faircraft Loynes might be the best bet. (IMHO of course)
  9. Good point, they've probably followed his advice and got jobs at Tesco with better pay and conditions
  10. It's not going to be pretty. Lovely weather, weekend, pubs opening for the first time in weeks...... No greater fan of pubs than me....but....I'm gonna hang on a bit. Not visit Mr Martin either
  11. Not just on the Broads - heard on the news that up here in flat cap land the railway bridge over the Ouse at Selby won't be swinging for the same reason.
  12. Good point with the added problem of dealing with folks who have had a few, I dint envy them.
  13. Absolutely! Keen as I am I think I'll hang on a wee while and see how it pans out.
  14. Good to see Johnson has been looking after his mates. Very pleased for all the hard pressed publicans and brewers though. A lot of pubs have still been charged rent even though they couldn't trade.
  15. Point was smaller yards don't tend to have dedicated staff to deal with IT stuff and you might be safer ringing to get in quick.
  16. and a beer hopefully!!!
  17. Don't know if they have a website but I would get on the old dog and bone early doors.
  18. Diesel isn't flammable but I take your point. But it must have been someone's pride and joy back in day. its such a shame to see them go to rack and ruin. Sorry, crossed with Sam!!!
  19. Quite possibly. This was it when it was afloat. Sorry the pictures a bit fuzzy.
