  1. I find it interesting how people so often seem able to read the story as it is intended', but immediately go off in their own direction, seemingly critical of the post that prompted them to contribute themselves. I suppose people are just getting more and more 'aggi' as this goes on. Whatever !
  2. https://www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/age-uk-crisis-and-mind-among-charities-to-receive-big-night-in-funds.html Can be no reason at all IMO !
  3. If the builders can go back, surely there's a stronger case for private boating, fishing and a whole raft of activities that easily permit socal distancing ?
  4. So the economy is more important than people's health and safety ? Pah !
  5. Meanwhile, the brickie on his way to work ..... On the other hand, them bloody tilers
  6. https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/building-sites-can-reopen-says-4074261 Are they really trying to tell us that taking our boats out on the Broads is more of a problem than working on a building site ?
  7. If cyclists want to play that game we should insist on full third party insurance. Come to think of it...
  8. I wondwe if that will include boat fishing?

  11. This is so true ! On a day when you're feeling important On a day when your ego is in bloom On a day you had the idea You're the most important man in the room Take a bucket and fill it with water Put your hand in right up to your wrist Take your hand out and the hole that is left Is a measure of how you will be missed You may splash as you put your hand in You may stir up the waters gallore But when your hand is gone in a second It's exactly the same as before So do you best and strive to be happy And work as hard as you can But always remember my friend There is no indispensable man
  12. Decided to make bread..... https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1251923200289751040/pu/vid/720x720/UgXbjQZF4T_WDHpi.mp4?tag=10
  13. I've met a few people like that
  14. I'm concerned that when I do finally get afloat, my flowing locks will get caught in the mainsheet blocks over my head
  15. I have known people who, on retiring, face the feeling that they have no purpose any more. They have worked all their lives since leaving school (or 'Uni') and have had a mainly regulated and predictable daily routine. For those retiring there has been the opportunity to prepare and plan for the new, slack, lifeline. Hobbies, travel, social activities. But now there are many, many who have suddenly, found themselves at home with nothing to do and no opportunity to follow theirplanned holiday regime of days out or travel. These people may not only feel a bit lost and useless, but more tellingly may see the country carrying on, ostensibly without a lot of difference, and may begin to feel their work was neither needed nor appreciated. In short. They may feel their whole career and life has been somewhat pointless, so as we see people on here exploding in outbursts which seem irrational, consider that. It may be that if you could meet them, you would give them a smack in the mouth, but unfortunately that isn't an outlet available at present - and probably a good thing too
  16. The 'Regulations' as published were as clear as mud, and as witnessed by the different interpretations by police in various parts of the country were applied often in ways that were never the intention . For example the stupidity of some local officials and Police who declared Easter Eggs as 'non essential' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52090441 Clarification of the 'guidelines' was needed - and when it was provided we have the spectacle of battalions off 'keyboard warriors' across the varied branches of social media declaring that everybody should adhere to their interpretations. This in turn led to clearer statements and so it goes on.
  17. My daughter is an assistant head teacher in a primary school in East london. The are making plans for a 'phased' return at the beginning of June, with the most needing ( those needing most educational support/input) coming back first. Meanwhike, a neighbour who works in armin at the local Secondary expects to be off until September. Make of that what you will.
  18. Many have gone in to private ownership, and are still loved, skillfully cared for and sailed regularly. You will see a good few at the Broads sailing regattas.
  19. Scratch an idealist, and underneath you will find a cynic. Cynisism is invariably born out of experience. Some here have more experience than others...
  20. Good for the village ! We have a comminity woodland on the edge of our village which is a very pleasant walk.. There is a car park. It has been closed by the Parish Council - " in line with Government regulations and to prevent congregation". I've asked for chapter and verse, Nothing is forthcoming
  21. Could be a little crispier...
