  1. Do you know, I waved to a MoBo hire boat driver today as I came out of Lime Kiln dyke - and the miserable stuck up sod ignored me
  2. Especially if they have two ( or more ) engines.....
  3. Fridayand Sunday evenings excepted down South JM - when the Brundall Navy are on passage
  4. What's happened to them? The range available has depleted recently - and continues to do so
  5. I would genuinely like to know where you encounter these type of sailors so regularly. Surely you don't spend all your time on Wroxham Broad ?
  6. Indeed - so why are we ignored ? Sometimes it's 'confusion' over our meaning, but on occasions ( exclusively with privateers in my experience)it's deliberate. Indeed, on one occasion i was loudly shouted at, " NOBODY TELLS ME WHERE TO ******G GO! " Just what is the problem that some MoBo helms have with yachts . It would appear from other forums that it's not just a Broads issue ! Maybe it's a great big inferiority complex ?
  7. You've no idea how frustrating it can be when a sailing skipper's indication of where and when to pass is ignored.......
  8. She certainly looked good going past Upton dyke this afternoon. She was 'troshin' too
  9. And the rest of us can choose to go elsewhere
  10. Oh, and a plan, most definitely a plan, and it rarely involves the fastest possible passage to the next pub
  11. No.... we mostly 'have a clue'.
  12. Not just Smelly it would seem
  13. I regularly wonder that when sailing......
  14. I once saw this in Thurne Dyke. When I remonstrated with the helm, he replied 'don't worry mate, they don't say nuffink when ya take em back'. My response would be garunteed a 'modding' at the very least here
  15. (1) Subject to the requirements of Byelaw 15: (a) The master of a power-driven vessel underway shall keep his vessel out of the way of: (i) a vessel not under command; (ii) a vessel restricted in its ability to manoeuvre; (iii) a sailing vessel; (iv) a quanted vessel. " Seems clear enough.
  16. Fully comp. Including racing cover was £170 this year for my 28' Broads river cruiser.
  17. Page 1of the said bylaws specifically disapplies the Collision regulations, a fact which has been pointed out many times here and elsewhere. Could that be the source of confusion ?
  18. It would appear that some may benefit from reading ( or having another read of ) The Broads Navigation Bylaws 1995.
  19. Most enjoyable. The bird in the reeds is a Reed Bunting, a male.
  20. Not forgetting the tide. Pusing the flow can have major inpacts on a sail boat not noticeable to a motor boat.
  21. When I did my RYA inland waterways hemsman and the Power Boat level 2 wew were taught to anticipate and be prepared to use throttle and gears to control the craft. I admit it takes practice and a bit of experience, but it's not too difficult.
  22. If you find me pointing at you and then pointind in a particular direction, that is the way I would like you to pass by . As for not tacking across the bows of a motor cruiser......
  23. Lana Hempsall, being a Tory knows that in Norfolk there's about as much chance of that as....... well, YOU make up a phrase !
  24. Road closure could have major impacts for those using the A17 to come to the Broads - as it it wasn't bad enough...... http://lincolnshirereporter.co.uk/2017/07/road-closures-a151-a17-peppermint-junction-works-holbeach/
