  1. Hi Neil, I use the Broads Authority tide tables, its the only one that gives you the height of the low water (important to us on Ranworth Breeze). Regards Neil
  2. That's all we need on the Broads, petty bureaucrat's or misguided individuals taking regulations into their own hands. These rulings in my mind on 24 hour moorings were not put in place to stop hirers or owners of boats paying their way; but more to stop residential type mooring on these moorings. There is a need for more locations that provide long time moorings or residential moorings but away from the 24 hour moorings. Canals have had long term moorings for a long time now, my biggest bugbear however is they can be on the towpath side of the canal which is wrong. Regards Alan
  3. I looked at the Norwich webcam this morning and there is now three eggs in view. Regards Alan

  5. I spoke with the tolls office and I can confirm that it has been reported as per above and her owner has been contacted. It is good to see that fellow boaters and the Broads Authority have managed to contact the owner. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Rob, Thank you for letting forum members know, have you posted this on the Facebook group? Regards Alan
  7. Hi Q, Coldham Hall and the Waters Edge both have electric points on their stagings for customers also the Ferry at Surlingham has some points available. Regards Alan
  8. Hello Carole, All officers I have seen have always worn anti-stab vests, whilst these protect the torso, from the reports I saw this unfortunate officer was stabbed in the neck or head. My thoughts go out to his family and colleagues.
  9. Hi John, There should not be any difference in a LED lamp for the caravan/motorhome market with regards to damp, these suffer just like boats likewise with condensation. Just make sure that any lamps you buy are not just 12 volt rated, they need to be ones that operate on a variable voltage range. The LED inserts I fitted on Ranworth Breeze about 4 or 5 years ago have given us no trouble at all, we have 18 lamps in various sections of the boat, there is 6 down-lighters in the lounge alone which used to be 20 watts each, now down to a little over 16 watts with the LED's, so a great battery saving. Regards Alan
  10. Hi Robin, No such luck, my guess is that if they are contact less cards we will be lucky if the credit goes on the correct meter.
  11. You can use the various canvas cleaners (for boats or cars) on the market, some do include bleach so watch out for the stitching. We tend to use Fabsil to waterproof our canopy, I prefer to brush this on or spread it with a sponge and leave it to dry. Fabsil is available in 1 litre & 5 litre tins or in a spay can. Regards Alan
  12. My understanding of the new card readers which read plastic based cards (they may even be contact less cards) is that they be able to have credit put back onto them unlike the paper cards that were used in the past. We might find the only bins on the Broads will be for recycling the new used cards. Regards Alan
  13. Rationing went on into the early 50's and finally ended about 9 years after the war was over. Tins without labels (if you were lucky) seemed to around in various pantries well into the 60's Regards Alan
  14. One has to ask why this course of action was needed, the old card readers worked in a fashion they were already paid for. It would be interesting to see what the true costs are for this venture, my guesstimate would be around £300 to £500 per post once all the costs have come in. Regards Alan
  15. When I changed ours on Ranworth Breeze I called in at Brian Wards and talked to Tanya about the LED inserts to replace our 20 watt halogen lamps. Tanya was kind enough to let me try out a couple of different wattage LED. in the end we settled on the 2.1 watt. Regards Alan
  16. Hi Jay, One of those shares has been up for sale for almost a year now, the owner is a member on here and illness forces the sale Regards Alan

  18. Hi Jean, By all accounts the Peregrines only sit on the eggs after they have all been laid. Regards Alan
  19. Hello Jay, Have a look on the BCBM website to check out the specs and budget information on Evening Shadow. http://www.bcbm.co.uk/boats/broads-cruisers-page-126.html Because this is managed by BCBM I have not had much contact with this syndicate. Have a word with Andrew Barton at BCBM. Regards Alan
  20. Sonny or one of the team is usually on hand to get a rope to pull you in, its a while since we were last there, we used to get our fuel and pump-outs when we were moored at Ferry Marine. Regards Alan
  21. The egg is nearer to the microphone now, so a little further right and slightly more towards the middle of the platform. Regards Alan
