  1. I have not been in the No 1 but have been in Mary Janes chip shop a couple of times when visiting Cromer, I found the fair very good, the restaurant was packed mostly with pensioners (usually a good sign). Yorkshire men do like a bargain but not at the expense of good food, we are somewhat vocal at saying what we think. Regards Alan
  2. Hi Paul, A few of our owners do visit the Ferry to be honest I prefer the Waters Edge, if the pork chops are on the menu they were excellent. Regards Alan
  3. Come on Iain how long have you been married you should know better about how long it takes to get ready. Regards Alan
  4. That should be Griff aboard he said he may doing a night passage to the Southern Rivers. Regards Alan
  5. Hi Carole, That sounds so familiar but change He for She, its Tan's job to helm the boat other than the boring bits like the New Cut, mooring, going around those flappy things and of course bridges. This gives me loads of time to read a book, do a crossword! I wish instead it is cleaning the boat doing the odd repair and preparing lunch etc. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Vaughan, We have used Commissioners Quay(cut) on a number of occasions for visits into Norwich, as you say over the bridge and up the lane to the bus stop, the bus stop is on the left after you get to top of the lane. We also tend to use the cut for mooring practice on our training days if nobody is moored there, it is a good place to see dragon flies. There was reports of people cutting or letting lines go last season, so if stopping overnight pick the port side of the cut and put down your mud weight, even though the risk of drifting is minimal. Regards Alan
  7. What ever happened to a workman's common sense? or does that not apply to signage Regards Alan
  8. The rise and fall at the Thorpe bridges is on average 46 cm (18 inches). Please check out our information on the bridge heights:- Regards Alan
  9. Hi Ivan, Welcome to the NBN forum, Please tell us a bit about yourself and your times on the Broads or your involvement with the North Walsham/Dilham Canal. Regards Alan
  10. Hello Scott, Welcome to the NBN forum. I wish I was nearer to the Broads so we could have seen the lifeboats on SunMuppetryday, I am sure that you will get a large crowd around the boats. Could you please place some pictures of the event onto the forum for those of us who can not attend. I wish you well with the trust and hope you do get plenty of donations. Please visit the trusts website:- www.50001.org.uk Regards Alan
  11. Hi Branden, Thank you for the update, Tan mentioned this morning, my reaction was that plastic note was rife for being counterfeited. As with all of these schemes they always end spending more money than they save. You could say plastic money If its not broke why fix it! Regards Alan
  12. Hi Carol, Thank you for posting this nostalgic film, enjoyable with a hint of Pathe News about it. As you rightly say to produce the film there would have been many hours of work cutting & splicing which is a skill in its self. Regards Alan
  13. Hi Seriously, I could be talking utter rubbish, but if the belts are screeching maybe there s an issue with the pump, seized or impeller damaged that is putting a load on belts, if this is the case however I would have thought that the temperature would be a lot higher. Regards Alan
  14. It works from home, so I have provided a link again in our list of webcams. Regards Alan
  15. Hi John, Thank you for posting the clips, I can only echo the comments by the other forum members. Only one criticism, swap over your burgees or film from the starboard side so we can see a little of the NBN burgee Regards Alan
  16. All I get when clicking on the link is as follows:- This site can’t provide a secure connection www.norfolklive.org uses an unsupported protocol. ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH
  17. Hi Mark, Like yourself we have called in by road but never by boat, a few of our owners have but I thought it too risky and not sure about any obstructions under the water that you can get with run down moorings. Once it is done we may call in more often. Regards Alan
  18. Hello Pia, What a transformation your mum would have been proud and the naming of your boat is a fitting tribute. Could we please have some pictures of when you launch her. Regards Alan
  19. Best of luck Griff. Sand & blasting edited for Muppetry Regards Alan
  20. Well done John, when its rough it certainly is at Cantley, we came back the other year past Cantley and the finger moorings to the side of the pub were being blown all over the place and the moored boats must have surly suffered damage. I hope you do not have to spend most of the night checking the ropes or listening to fender/rope creaking. Regards Alan
  21. Hi Neil, I would have thought that you would be better showing as many detailed pictures of the inside of Lightning so potential new owners can see the condition of the boat and its controls. Regards Alan
  22. As most of you know, Norfolk & Suffolk were hit with high winds and lots of rain, trees have fallen on vehicles and a caravan at Reedham, trains were delayed or cancelled and many boats were staying put where they were moored. Here is dashcam footage of a drive through Suffolk:- http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/watch_dashcam_footage_of_a_drive_through_flooded_country_lanes_of_suffolk_1_4556734 By all accounts the weather should improve by Thursday. Regards Alan
  23. Hi Bob, We do like pictures and video's on the forum, please feel free to post it. Regards Alan
  24. At least Robin's beans were edible once he managed to open the tin, unlike the ones that Guy Martin tried eating from the series "The Boat Guy Built". Regards Alan
  25. Hi John, I have just approved your friend, no doubt he will be introducing himself soon. Regards Alan
