  1. Hello Bob & Karen, Welcome to the NBN your friendly forum. Regards Alan
  2. Hi Shaun, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. I hope you do well with the sale of your boat. Regards Alan
  3. Hello Tom, It is good to have you aboard, welcome to the NBN forum. Regards Alan
  4. Hi Polly, We expect to see some results of Phill's tuition in due course. Regards Alan
  5. Tan and I rather like beans on toast with grated cheese, on top of that a soft poached egg. None of the above are good for Wooster's diet however. Regards Alan
  6. Hello Bob, Sorry to hear of your plight. sadly these days very few people hold their hands up and say they are sorry or even put their hands in their pockets. It would be an idea to call Broads Control. Stokesby is a great place but can be difficult to moor especially directly outside of the pub because of the side currents there. Regards Alan
  7. RAM is random access memory it is used when ever you open a program, do a task etc. You use this memory doing your tasks and then release it for other tasks. the more memory you have then the better or quicker your pc will be. In the early days 1MB of RAM was huge and cost you a small fortune. As motherboards developed you could fit more RAM but early operating systems would not let you use additional RAM. Things have moved on in leaps and bounds RAN and disk sizes have increased no end and the prices are almost give away these days. Regards Alan
  8. Hi Alan, Looking at your pictures especially the transom I think if I were you and Dave, I would fit some stainless corner strips to help protect the rear and side of the boat. I know the rear is protected by your swim platform but the corner is still vulnerable. Iain may be correct you need some more weight in the boat, there was a topic about this some while ago, someone suggested bags of scrap lead, but you could use concrete commons or sandbags. Bow thrusters are somewhat expensive for what is basically a lorry starter motor with a 90 degrees gearbox and a small or dual impeller. Loving the story. Regards Alan
  9. Hi Martin, Dry Joints (called cold joints in the USA) is usually where the soldered joint has a crack around the soldered joint, it is common around a connection pin because of mechanical movement. I would not use any form of spray on your computer. Remove the two RAM Sims and look for the more than likely gold plated contacts that go into the Sims sockets. To clean these use a pencil rubber and then wipe with a lint free cloth, relocate they will be keyed and will only go into the sockets one way around. Please let us know how you get on. Regards Alan
  10. Hello Sailey, Welcome to your friendly forum from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  11. Latham's is a must for any time spent on the Broads. There is a lot of tat but occasionally there is a bargain, I bought a kidney shaped hardwood seat from there, I had been looking for one for ages, even paying for a carrier to pick it up for me and drop it off at work it worked out about £100 cheaper than any I had seen. I often buy the disposable razor knifes and the like. Regards Alan
  12. Hi Alan, I hope you are wearing some of those flameproof pants after the outburst above Regards Alan
  13. Hello Wooster, When I started with painfull knees I did loose some weight about a stone & a half. I found that a magnetic copper bracelet worn on my right ankle provided a good deal of relief. So it becomes a topic of conversation when wearing sandals, but hey ho check my bothered meter Regards Alan
  14. Hello Marshman, The Hotel Wroxham has always in the past had mooring for 2 large or 3 smaller boats with side on mooring. I have never seen stern mooring there before and agree that stern mooring has been allowed next door but this as been limmited to smaller craft only, I looked again on the webcam yesterday and the craft moored there must have been 30ft plus. This effects mooring at the hotel and causes craft coming through the bridge to alter course yet again, most do alter course just to get through the bridge. I could happily sit in the hotel watching the bridge, its a pity the webcam at the hotel was removed. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Alan, With all this nudging here and there it sounds as if you went to the Timothy West's school of helmsman ship. I am enjoying the blog and the pictures. Regards Alan
  16. Hi Dave, I think you have covered that fairly well, and as you say fumes into the boat can be dangerous even fatal. Regards Alan
  17. Hello Wooster, The Yare does a great salad. At the Ferry Inn Reedham they will do you fish without batter. If on a diet ask for meals without sauces, opt for plain chicken, jacket potatoes (but watch out for the fillings) , salads as you say, carvery at least you can pick out plenty of vegetables and cut down on the good stuff. Sorry just noted you asked about takeaways. Takeaways and a diet hardly go hand in hand, Chinese is out then far too much grease, pizza again a problem, fish & chips, as listed above you could opt for the batter free option. I hope it works out for you. Regards Alan
  18. Hi Dan, It sounds like service time to me. Regards Alan
  19. Hello cerulean, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself. you will see that we have a few forum members from the various syndicate boats based on the Norfolk Broads. You may well be the first forum member from the Blue Mist Syndicate however. I wish you well in the sale of your syndicates share. Please let us have some details regarding the allocation details; dates or week numbers that are still available this year and for the 2016 season. Shares on the syndicates are selling extremely well at the moment, we have or I should say had three shares for sale last month, our first for over 6 months, one is already sold, a viewing is taking place on Friday, the outcome may well be that the remaining shares will be sold. Regards Alan
  20. Hi Mark, Glad to hear that even the best crews have issues. Enjoying the blog and the pictures especially the catch of the day Regards Alan
  21. Hi Iain, This was during the day and I am almost sure that they were outside the Hotel Wroxham and must have been 30ft plus so were an hazard to boats coming through the bridge. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Poppy, To be honest the speed limit at the Reedcutters in my opinion should be reduced for that corner, I know it goes down to 5mph but those boat moored there get blown about. Maybe a speed limit of 4mph when passing pubs or 24 hour moorings would be a better option. Lets face it none of us likes to be rocked about at these moorings be we moored up for lunch or mooring overnight. Regards Alan
  23. Looking at the Barnes Brinkcraft webcam the other day I noticed that a couple of boats were stern moored either outside the Hotel Wroxham or next door. These boats were compounding the problems of getting through the bridge or mooring up for the pilot. Regards Alan
  24. Total numpties, no regard for other traffic or their own safety. Typical American or just the worst of them. Regards Alan
  25. The Kings Arms was our preferred pub in Loddon, The Robinsons used to rent the rear room restaurant up to two seasons ago. We have been in since and had bar meals which were ok. You of course can get a good breakfast from Rosie Lees, eat in (if there are any seats) or have a tray made up to take back to the boat. Regards Alan
