  1. Hello Neil, Welcome to the NBN from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  2. Hi Jill, Sorry Sundays are always an issue for me, I am signing off to sort out the chicken and veg. Regards Alan
  3. Hello Shepster, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Sorry we do not fish but my brother in law has been with us and fished off of the boat at Stokesby and at Womak staithe. I would check out the fishing section of the forum for any information regarding bait and any tips for those favourite places to fish. There tends to be plenty of fishermen in day boats on the Southern Broads. Regards Alan
  4. These days we drop our stuff off at the boat in Brundall so we have room in the car to get the shopping from Roys, it only takes a little over 20 minutes on the back roads to Wroxham. We then tend to top up the supplies from the local shops during our visit with bread, milk etc as we need it. Spread your money around the Broads, these local shops & pubs need visitors cash to survive. Regards Alan
  5. Hi Grendel, The flat bottomed P would definitely cover it. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Dave it is in places such as the Tapas Bar but towards the Mill the level changes. With regards to construction the lower end may be even cheaper to construct. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Alan, How are you going to finish off the 90 degree edge on the top of that cupboard? I would machine up a moulding that went over the corner but had a slight up-stand in the moulding to help prevent anything falling off of the top. Regards Alan
  8. Hello Strowager, I like your aerial picture of the Stracey Arms site (Tapas Bar). The location with the land between there and the Stracey Mill would make an ideal marina location, well out of the way with easy traffic access. A petrol station at one end with also waterfront access, would fill the needs of both car and boat traffic. If visitor mooring where also provided then this would also help support some form of shop and eatery for overnight moorers and for marina berth holders. Maybe a naïve pipe dream but the Northern Broads do need more marina spaces. Regards Alan
  9. Hi Robin, You may not have seen it but on the Canals people make a living operating from their working boats supplying fuel, pump-outs, coal & coke, gas, logs etc. I don't think that I would like the thought of a river based Tesco Regards Alan
  10. Hello Andy, Welcome to the NBN forum and your first post. Regards Alan & Tan
  11. Hi Iain, Parking is not an issue these days in Dartmouth, about 3 or 4 years ago they built a park and ride at the top of the hill and lay buses on into the town as part of the parking fee (not over the top either). We have used this every year when we go down there, its better than trying to wait for a slot in the car park at the other side of the small park. Regards Alan
  12. Hi Mandy, Those boat kits seem to get bigger every season and more so when you are on the boat early or late in the year, the hot water bottles, thermals, gloves, torches and the odd electric heater do not help. I hope you enjoy your first time on Moonlight Shadow. Yep sounds like Womak Staithe to me as well. Regards Alan
  13. Hi David, Hoseasons is the most expensive route to book any boating holiday, but in the last 2 or 3 years this has been the only route available to us to hire the boats we wanted on the Canals. I agree with the other posters that re-banding in many respects is hog wash and usually is what happens when a company is being run by a team of accountants and PR men rather than people that fully know the industry that they operate in. Regards Alan
  14. Hello Marjul, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Have a look around the site, if you are not sure or want advice please do ask, most of the natives are friendly honest Regards Alan
  15. Hi Jim, Many people mud weight opposite the pubic moorings if a space is not available when it really busy and pull in if a space becomes available. It is one of my favourit spots on the Broads and can be a great sun trap, my brother in law says the fishing is not bad either. The short walk up to the Kings Arms at Ludham is worth while. Regards Alan
  16. Jim's sign seems ok to me it has all the basic information and the important stuff in the small print on the bottom of the sign Regards Alan
  17. He is a couple of pictures (sadly none of the flying over the dam wall) and a write up in The Derbyshire Times. http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/lancaster-bombers-fly-over-derwent-1-6853225 Also a short video clip on the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-29302170 Regards Alan
  18. Hi Iain, This looks a grand pub, I love the setting, there is a Dutch influence in that gable on the building. Regards Alan
  19. Hi Iain, It looks like a Beccles roof line. Regards Alan
  20. I was trying to rack my brain thinking where there was a wall on a pub with the pebbles set into a wall, this type of thing is seen mostly in Devon. With the picture being ten years old it could have been anywhere, Iain that was a fairly big clue. Regards Alan
  21. Hi Jane, Here is some information taken from a site. (subject to tide and weather) Tel: 01692 670460. This for Potter Heigham Bridge. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Alan, At this rate your boat had better come with a Goverment health warning. "Can seriously damage your wealth & heath" Seriously, you more than likely will have scratched the inside of your eyelid, it tends to hurt like hell. You just need a boat to go on for a few days to rest, do you know of one? Regards Alan
  23. Hi Jeff, Did you forget the picture Regards Alan
  24. Hello Jimmy, Welcome to the NBN forum from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
