  1. Hi Polly, What is the grill like? Our Smev grill is not very good for anything other than making very dry toast and very slowly at that. The oven is great however. In the past we have had a few owners not pulling out the grill heat shield, which has effected the timber above the oven housing. Regards Alan
  2. Hi Sue, Vodaphone does not like the South Hams at all especially at the coast. When we are at Hope Cove if I have to use the phone there is just one spot where you can get two bars of service and that is only in about 10 square foot area, go acoss the road and no service. We tend to use the internet at the cottages we stop at to keep in touch, but we are on holiday so I limit that to just once per day. Regards Alan
  3. Hi Strowager, Thank you I have just bought two of the torches from your link. Regards Alan
  4. Hi Tim, After your last post (great story by the way) re Uncle Albert, you had better put that number on speed dial Regrads Alan
  5. Hi Alan, I thought they would be, hence the link to the third option. It is a pity that they are so expensive for a cut down version cooker but I guess they do not sell the volume as compared to the full sized versions. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Geoff, Work, the thief of time, well it is for me It was one of the factors in 2001 that drew us towards the Ranworth Breeze Syndicate because I could not justify having any more than two weeks down at the Broads, we were going to a time share in Bowness and we were as always having our week in Hope Cove (Devon) and a week on a canal holiday. The time share in Bowness has gone but we still do the other holidays. I can understand your situation, on our sister boat Southern Crusader you can buy into the syndicate for a single week, that may be a better option for you. If you want details I can put you onto the right people. Regards Alan
  7. Hi John, I sent you a PM with the nameof the pub and location. It looks a nice place, were you well provided for? Regards Alan
  8. Hello Alan, You did not mention which type of gas you are going to use Propane or Butane, propane is better in cold weather being the temprature can be very low before it freezes on butain you tend to see the tell tale signs of the bottom of the bottles frozen. I have had a quick look at domestic propane cookers, here is a couple of links:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPINFLO-THETFORD-ASPIRE-LPG-COOKER-GRILL-HOB-SLOT-IN-BOAT-CARAVAN-/271563091421?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item3f3a6beddd#ht_1157wt_721 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stoves-500-DIS-T3-LPG-Cooker-12volt-ignition-4-burner-hob-mobile-homes-boats-/250908629034?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Ovens_Hobs_Cookers&hash=item3a6b51d82a#ht_578wt_958 This might be better it can be used on butane or propane. http://www.marinecookers.com/products/cooker-with-oven-2-burners Regards Alan
  9. Hello Barry, I am glad to hear you are now afloat. Thank you so much for the pictures of the finished boat. You should be very proud of the work that you have done on the boat in the last few years. Regards Alan
  10. Hi Iain, Are we talking about an electric or gas oven? As you rightly known that electric ovens are grossly over prices for what inside them and most people would hold up their hands in horror if they looked in the back from the 30 or 40 amp cable that terminates onto all of those crimped spades. Like yourself I have replaced almost every part in our double oven over the years. This applicence can not be compared to the God like item that is the washing machine that must be repaired at all costs my SWMBO, Tan gets twitchy when ever it misses a beat. We had our old one for the best part of twenty years plus and was like "Triggers Broom". Sorry back to the post. Alan dependant on the size of cooker (height) are you going to put this on a storage plinth, if so this will allow for the curvature of the hull. Any storage is good but remember to ventilate it. Regards Alan
  11. Hi Martin, Thank you for sharing. Regards Alan
  12. Hi Iain, Is that what you have been told or are you donning the marigolds Regards Alan
  13. Hello Doug, Jonzo should be able to throw some light on your issues with your pictures, it could be an issue with use of your I pad. I have edited your post to show the formed chine in its blocks for you, I noted that one of your rotten frames on a barrel was also upside down, but I have left this. You have the ability to edit your post but this has to be done straight away after posting and with pictures you would have to use the full editor mode. Regards Alan
  14. Hello Doug, Thank you for sharing your woes. I guess you want to know the extent of all of the rot but are fearful of finding out. What is the condition of the hog? Are you going to cut out the rot in the frames and treat the good wood, reinforce with replacement sections or are you going to replace completely? Please keep us all updated on your progress. I wish you well, its is a labour of love but it will be worth it when completed. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Mark, How did you manage to fit so much into just two weeks? Thank you for the report and for so many pictures. Regards Alan
  16. Hello Tim, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself. Lets hope for better weather for you next week. You have quite a journey up from Devon, what is it 4 to 5 hours plus? Enjoy your holiday and if you have time take a few pictures so you can let us all know about your visit again to the Broads. Regards Alan
  17. Hi Mark, The last picture could be the basis for advertising the NBN. Regards Alan
  18. Hi Alan, With regards to the cooker, what are you going for, a hob and an oven or a standard cooker. We have a gas hob and gas oven. The oven is ok but the grill is pants, there are lots of topics about grills in general being not very good working off of propane or butane. You may be better off checking out caravan or recreational vehical (campers) suppliers, rather than the usual suppliers. After saying that if Brian Wards can quote you on anything the 10% off for being a forum member might come in handy. Regards Alan
  19. Hello Siddy, I have to agree with the others on Monday 15th September low tide will be around 11.49am at Potter Heigham according to the Shore Base site, Herbert Wood table shows the time to be 8.49am with a 3 hour delay for Potter Heigham. Have a look at all of our links for tide tables in Visiting The Broads. Regards Alan
  20. Hello Neil, The Lancaster Taxy ride can be booked on the following site:- My brother in law took my father in law a couple of years ago for an experience he will never forget. http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/lancaster-taxy-rides/ Regards Alan
  21. Hi Mark, No doubt the bungee faired better than my stomach would have done aboard your boat. Regards Alan
  22. Hello Douglas, Thank you for sharing the pictures. It looks like it is a labour of love, are you doing the work or is it being done for you? I hope you have deep pockets, hardwood is hardly cheap and is still sold by the square inch or was the last time I bought some. Please keep us updated on your on your progress. Regards Alan
  23. After talking to other mods, I have created a new forum in the full members area. It is open to all full members of the forum. Please feel free to use this forum for all of your tips that might not only help other syndicate/boatshare owners but may also help all forum members. Lets face it our syndicate boats are on the rivers for 40 to 50 weeks of the year, we clock up a lot of hours collectively on the Broads and see a number of faults on our boats that other boat owners may never see. Regards Alan
  24. Hi Geoff, Happy anniversary to you both, and celebrating it on a boating holiday, perfect. Regards Alan
  25. Hello Mike & Pat, A warm welcome from Tan & myself. The first 50 posts is easy, the fence panels between them is another story. Regards Alan
