  1. Hello Charlie, Thank you for the information, lets hope that Richard and Gary can sort out the issue soon. Hopefully they may have a backup of the file or may re able to re-index it. Regards Alan
  2. What can we say, if you had been on the boat you could have added it to Confession Time! Regards Alan
  3. Somerleyton Bridge – Not Operational Due to a power cut in Somerleyton village the bridge is currently not able to operate. Vessels normally able to access through the bridge without a lift will still continue to have access. It is not known when power will be resumed at present. We will advise as soon as we are informed. 4. I have just tried to login to NBF at 15.45, it is still not available. If anyone has any information that we can pass onto NBF forum members or if anyone has been in contact with Richard we can pass it on. Regards Alan
  5. Thanks Mark, That would be oops then! Maybe the skipper would like to add a message to our current topic on Confession Time. Regards Alan
  6. I have just tried and I am getting the server message. Regards Alan
  7. Hello Roy, Thank you for the update. I wonder what it hit? Regards Alan
  8. When we were down to the Broads in September I was speaking to a guy at the bar in the Yare about the 70's and bands from that era. He was very excited because he was going to see Lou Reed that week. As you say sad news for his fans. Regards Alan
  9. Hi Simon, Carol may be your best bet on trying to place that location on the Ant, lets hope that she chips in. Regards Alan
  10. Hi Stephen, That sounds like a plan and is better than breaking the ice for a Christmas dip, best of luck with that by the way. As for me I will be chained to kitchen on Christmas Day, its the only way to get decent meal, Tan does the washing up so its fair. John its a bit early to be finishing for the season, Ranworth Breeze will be out until the second week in December and a number of the other syndicate boats only stop for about four weeks in order to have their Winter Service. Regards Alan
  11. Police will be escorting a boat on its journey from Shotley Marina to Burgh Castle, setting off at 10am. Please see the link for the details:- http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/traffic_police_warn_of_delays_as_boat_travels_from_shotley_marina_in_suffolk_along_a12_and_a14_to_burgh_castle_in_norfolk_1_2948059 Regards Alan
  12. You would think that there ought to be a quantity discount on multiple registrations for day boats, hirecraft or for that matter private owners who can only use one vessle at a time. The comercial users on the Broads pay the highest fees of all. The Broads would be a sad place without the dayboats, passanger trips and hirecraft and without all of the above the Broads would vertually close shop. The bottom line is not who pays what but should be are we getting value for our River Tolls. IMHO we are; but it could be a lot better with more indians and less chiefs within the B.A., that was more accountable to its paying members. Regards Alan
  13. Being as they are now the Yarmouth Port Authority and police Breydon Water; one would assume they do! Regards Alan
  14. Here is the latest news from the B.A. Breydon Water has now been opened for transit of larger vessels and due to the improved weather conditions the Broads are now safe to navigate. Kind regards. Chris Bailey Administrative Officer Operations Broads Authority Direct Dial: (01603) 756007 email: chris.bailey@broads-authority.gov.uk Please note my current working days are Monday - Wednesday.
  15. Hello Andy, Thank you for the information. Here is the email in question. Please be advised that Breydon Water will be closed for Navigation and no cruising on the Broads is recommended until weather conditions improve. Kind regards. Chris Bailey Administrative Officer Operations Broads Authority Direct Dial: (01603) 756007 email: chris.bailey@broads-authority.gov.uk
  16. I agree it looks like St Olaves Bridge, taken more or less from where the new marina is now. Regards Alan
  17. Hello Paul & Helen, Thank you for the wonderful report of your holiday, I can understand how down you must feel, we feel the same every time we leave the boat and get into the car for the journey home. Looking forward to your report on the boat. Regards Alan
  18. Hello Paul, Glad you enjoyed the Waters Edge, a number of people have said the food there is very good, we like it and my son a chef, thought when we called in earlier in the season it was the best meal he had of that type of meal on offer. We have called in since whilst training some of our new owners and still found it very good with excellent service. Rather than going to Norwich I would have gone to Loddon up the Chet, but each to their own. Regards Alan

  20. Hello Roy & Diane, Yes The Hamilton's guides are still good, but are harder to use as compared with their earlier canal guides at least, the new guides IMHO read incorrectly the earlier ones that ran from the top down were far easier to follow. Needless to say we still use all the new ones regularly and I am still looking to find no8 the guide to the Scottish Canals. Regards Alan
  21. Hello Mike, I totally agree, even on the level of the current fee which as you say is the least of our worries and is about the price most of us have to pay for a boat lift. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Clive, I have to agree that all river craftusers must get on and have a united front, one way or another the end user be it a private or hirer user is getting short changed with regards to facilities on the Broads. The basic of these is having somewhere to moor, with water deep enough for this task rather than the hit and miss attitude we are all currently having to endure, less and less wild moorings and current moorings closed during the season. Regards Alan
  23. Hello Hylander, We moored at the Birmingham Gas Street Basin two/three/ years ago if memory serves me correctly, it was a safe well used friendly place full of bistro's and a building that had every one of the normal eating establishments you see in most of the Cities, most had outside tables & chairs. The area was spotless, bridges had been built for everyone to get about. We stopped overnight, had a great meal a few drinks and back to the boat, well worth a visit. Regards Alan
  24. Hi Fred, Welcome to the forum from Tan & myself. Regards Alan
  25. Hi Bill, I was thinking the sign in the field above the two women's heads behind the cars. Great picture of the moored boats I wonder which mill was in the background? Regards Alan
