  4. As many of you will know yesterday was Tan's funeral. It was an uplifting service a celebration of Tan's life conducted by Andrew Platts, listening to him he helped many of the congregation with his rendition of Tan's early years, our courtship, birth of our sons, and the birth of our grandson. Our love of boating and Tan's involvement at the Community Centre both with FATS and the Pantomime. It was so good to see Peter at the funeral, I wish we had more time to talk. Over £700 was raised in donations in cheques and cash for Neurocare at the Royal Halmamshire Hospital, I know some of you were donating direct to the Hospital in Tan's name. Regards Alan
  5. I did that with our 12 volt table lamp, I just bought a 12 volt bus-lamp (es 20 watt 12 volt) and fitted a fused cigar lighter plug We use this for subdued lighting when watching the TV. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Nigel, Some sound advice, 30 ma could kill someone with a weak heart but the industry standard on earth leakage or residual circuit breakers is set at 30 ma as a prevention from death by an electric shock. Ideally Ray needs to sort out his electrics be they 240 ac or 12 volts dc, table lamps need to terminated into suitable plugs and sockets rather than cables going under the floor. For a 12 volt table lamp you need to use a cigar lighter plug and socket or a none standard plug & socket. The testers and neon's suggested are not suitable for dc voltages, as already suggested a good multi meter that can read ac & dc voltages is the best option. Regards Alan

  9. Hi Jay, I might give it a go, in the past I have been known to drink anything, even that flat brown stuff.
  10. Hello Jayfire, I quite like the shape of the glass and Tan used to have the odd glass when available, but for me I could never get over the flowery taste when it was first introduced years ago. Regards Alan
  11. Hello Jayfire, I would go with the San Migel, Peroni, Kronies, maybe a Becks or a Cobra, but I never have Stella, I have always regarded that as a woman's drink. Regards Alan
  12. Hello Ian, Thank you for the information that the calendar's will be with us prior to Christmas, can you make any going abroad the first priority. Regards Alan

  14. Hello Pumpmedic welcome to the forum. You will find that although being proficient on the canals is by no means a bonus when first starting on the Broads. I found this 18 years ago when we bought our share in Ranworth Breeze, my 27 years on the canals did not count for much. The wind and tides were something that had to be learnt very quickly. Regards Alan
  15. I was thinking it may be the White Horse at Chedgrave. Regards Alan
  16. Hello Ray, On Narrow Boats if they use a diesel heater such as a Webasto, it is a wet system using radiators, some of course use gas boilers to heat the radiators. Regards Alan

  20. Tan went into hospital on Wednesday for an operation on an aneurysm over her left eye after it was discovered after a MRI scan a little over three weeks ago. The scan was done to find out why the vision in her left eye had deteriorated. We saw a neuro consultant and discussed the vascular option but opted for the surgery option because of the equal risks without have blood thinning drugs for a minimum of 6 years or life. Tan had a 5.5 hour operation but failed to wake up after getting from recovery to the ICU. The family visited Tan until Sunday the 1st December when we said our last goodbyes and the machines were gradually turned off. It is Tan's funeral on Thursday 13th December at Hutcliffe-Wood Crematorium at 15.30 pm. It is family flowers only but donations can be made via B&C Co-op Funeral Directors Suffolk Street Sheffield, or donations Neurocare at the Hallamshire Hospital. Alan

  22. Hello oceandawn, You could try Craig Dunbar of Marine Fabrication at Brundall 07957 796665, Craig was in charge of the Broom Stainless division before left last year. He has done all the work on our stainless rails now for many years on Ranworth Breeze. Regards Alan
  23. Hi Steve, The Jabsco pump base is oblong with rounded corners. I suggest that you check for a name on the toilet bowl or base to determine the manufacturer, failing that I would call in at Brian Wards and get Nick or Tanya's opinion on what your toilet is, remember asking for the NBN discount. Maybe if you post a picture of the toilet and the square base one of the members may know what it is. Regards Alan
  24. We have not had any issues there this year nor any in the past. Regards Alan
  25. Our canopy originally not made by Jeckells has had various repairs and replacement panels, we have always found them accommodating with their while you wait repairs, some I do myself but others require stitching through up to six layers of canvas for the tie down patches and zip problems we go to Jeckells. Regards Alan
