  2. I am sure they were replaced prior to them being sold.
  3. Enjoyed that one. Don't know what Robin had been drinking, must have been good. Excellent sense of humour developing. Thanks.

  5. Unless this is a set up he will have it well stowed away by now!
  6. Oi. I as well as always reading the handbook I also drive a BMW and use the indicators. My wife keeps telling me they will have to take it off me.
  7. Been boating for years and I always read it. Must be sad.
  8. Well up to your usual standard Jill. Lovely photos. Thanks
  9. In 2017 we wish to hire a boat on the Canal Du Midi during August. We normally hire Swallow from Maffets so we do not need the newest poshest boats, but will have my son and daughter in law plus a little one under 2. Looking for a reasonably priced boat for about 10 or 11 days starting on a Monday thus giving us the weekend to drive there and back. would prefer to have dual steerage if possible. Any help you can give is most welcome. Thanks
  10. As long as they are paying to dispose of it correctly why does it really matter. I say well done and thank you to him.
  11. I suspect that some customers have no common sense and then there are those that just have no respect for anything especially the asset they are floating about on. a combination of the two could be extremely dangerous resulting in high cost repairs and loss of rental costs while the boat is being repaired. My worry is that tales of what I hope is just a minority may put off people that are contemplating hiring for the first time. A week or more on the Broads is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the nature around you. With a little application of common sense and taking it nice and easy that first hire is not difficult and can result in a lifetime relationship with the Broads. Our experience of Andy's yard was very good. The training was good and the service excellent. Just avoid the desire to rush everywhere and use the revs sparingly especially near other boats or coming into moor. Take a chance, hire a boat and enjoy.
  12. Excellent book. Really easy read, makes you feel as though you are there with them.
  13. We use Maffetts, this year they have reduced their boats back down to the two wooden ones. Both are lovely boats with lots of character. We hire Swallow if we can. Suits all of our needs. We also hired for an additional week at Freedom last year at short notice and Swallow was out. Service was excellent, fuel economy on Sweet Freedom was fantastic and we got under the Potter Heigham bridge. Recommend both yards if they have boats that suit your needs.
  14. Was that an April fool joke. A recorded message stating that you stand away from the cow if smoking
  15. Trouble Polly is that Ray now has your crown so they work on his!
  16. Looks lovely, Will put it on the walk to list for August. Assuming that they have the hole sorted out by then. Is it possible to walk by the river from the yacht station past the playhouse and then cut across to the gardens?
  17. we have always used the powder. works well.
  18. Really enjoyed that, thanks for the write up. Not long to the end of July and I have two weeks afloat.
