SueHancock Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 It is with sadness that I share with you the news of the passing of Pete Marr. Pete had owned his own boat and cruised the Broads for many years. He will be a familiar face to lots of you and those who knew him will know how he liked a chat! He had been a member on all of the main Norfolk Broads forums and he loved meeting up with the many friends he made from all of the forums and on the river over the years. Pete was a loving, caring person who has stood by my me through an awful past 18 months, so as you can imagine I am truly devasted at his passing. Pete leaves three sons and a loving, caring family. The funeral will be held in Milton Keynes and there will also be a Memorial event in Norfolk in March. If anyone would like details of either then please PM me. Rest in Peace My Lovely Man xxx 2 Quote

Oddfellow Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Pete was a lovely guy and his passing is very sad. His loss was a shock. His contribution to the Broads boat community cannot be underestimated and must not be understated; much like Hank who we lost less than a year ago and, indeed, Sue also. Be strong, Sue. 1 Quote
SueHancock Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 Thank you all for your very kind words. I'm sure both Pete and Hank would be honoured to know they had such good friends. The picture is just how I remember them. I am popping up to Horning on Saturday but just for the day to check the boats and make a few arrangements for the memorial. If anyone is around at lunchtime and fanices a pint, we'll be at The New Inn xxx 3 3 Quote
SueHancock Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 I can now confirm that a Memorial trip for Pete will be held on Saturday 10th March at 1.30pm. We will depart Horning aboard Southern Comfort for a 2 hour trip down to St. Benet's Abbey returning to Horning for drinks at The New Inn. As this is pre-season parking and mooring in the village shouldn't be a problem. Everyone who knew Pete is welcome to come along and raise a few glasses with myself and Pete's family and friends. The funeral is being held in Milton Keynes at the end of this month could anyone wishing to attend that please PM me for details as we are not posting this on Facebook or other social media for family reasons. Please let me know if you will be attending the memorial so I can keep a check on numbers for catering. Thank You all for your kind words, we look forward to seeing you on the 10th March. 1 Quote
BroadAmbition Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Hi Sue - Sorted well done. I can confirm I will be attending the memorial for Pete. Early planning suggests I will arrive at the New Inn Saturday forenoon onboard 'B.A' and leave her there for the duration. Here's wishing you and Pete's family all the best for the Milton Keynes Service / Funeral I look forward to seeing you and Pete's family / friends on 10th March and thanks for the invitation. If you need me to help in any way, just ask. Griff xx 1 Quote
