Is this Ad sexist?

Recommended Posts

Firstly this isn't a serious post and I don't want to offend one of our wonderful sponsors, but I just looked at this and thought it was funny.

It is sometimes what seems like a normal thing to do/say that can be mis-construed by those who might want to make an issue of things.

Sooooo this is just meant as a bit of fun. :bow  :bow

On the Richo's ad on the forum it says - "Fun, Freedom and Plenty of You time". In the picture it appears to show two lazy guys playing cards while the woman is making the tea!!

To be fair this is probably a good shot at reality (the lazy guys that is), but it just made me smile. Does it imply that men are not allowed in the galley on Broads hire boats? If so, gonna get me a dozen (hire boats that is, not women - god, one is enough) :hardhat:

Dont forget peeps it isn't a pop, just something that made me smile today.

Probably intentional by Richo's. They know that if you can keep the guys out of the galley their cleaners are going to have a lot less work to do on turnround.

This is going to take some typing but here goes...

I was on holiday in Devon with a friend and his wife, (Tony & Claire) and we were waiting the arrival of friends of theirs, a married couple who lived fairly close by. I don't remember their names, so for the purpose of this tale, I'll call them Mork & Mindy (that dates me!)

Claire told me that the husband of her friend, was an absolute pig, a real chauvinist. This tweeked my interest somewhat so I kept pretty quiet when the couple arrived, not really believing he could be that bad.

He was! He was one of the most insufferable men I'd ever had the misfortune to meet.

I managed to have a quiet word with Tony, asking him not to react to anything I said, and to get that message to Claire, giving me the nod when he'd done so. Quite soon the nod was given and I awaited the conversation to get round to something I could control. That too didn't take long.

"Mindy's a pretty dab hand with the old vacuum cleaner aren't you dear"

"You let her clean your flat? you do surprise me!"

"Why's that?"

"Well I'm a bachelor, so I know how to clean and tidy a place. As soon as you hand that one over to a lass, chairs and settees get unnecessary cushions, any horizontal space gets ornaments and before you know it the whole place looks like the dumping ground of a Women's Institute jumble sale. If you want 'clean and tidy' you have to do it yourself. Don't you agree?"

"Yes, I see your point, a woman's place is in the kitchen and all that!"

"In the kitchen? In the kitchen?? Hardly old chap, not if you want to eat proper food, decent stuff.  How many of the top restaurants boast a woman chef? None at all. The top people in the kitchen are men. Always have been, always will be.

No, the best place for a woman is in the bedroom. Looking pretty in the living room is fine but it's the bedroom where a woman belongs."

"Yeah Right! I can't argue with that. What do you think Mindy?"

Mindy looked daggers at me, until I smiled and added...

"There you go Mindy, you now have your husbands permission to stay in bed until he's cleaned the flat and cooked your dinner, Can't be bad!"

He didn't speak to me for the rest of the evening. Oh happy day!

That story is true, and the conversation is as close to the way I remember it, and close enough to get the point.

8 Little known facts about Women

1.  Women have faster blood flow to the brain than men

2.  Women suffer less hearing loss than men

3.  The longer the woman's legs, the less likely she is to develop Alzheimer's

4.  Wearing high heels can make women better in bed by strengthening their pelvic muscles

5.  A woman can tell by looking at a man's face whether or not he likes babies

6.  Women are three times more likely than men to attempt suicide but four times less likely to succeed

7.  Women are more likely than men to hate the colour orange

8.  A Pueblo Indian woman divorces her husband by putting his Moccasins outside the front door

And this is why the blonde woman in the Ricko's ad is making the tea/coffee because she will more than likely make a much better job of it, the men folk are left to play cards so as not to tax their brains too much and because of the mess they most probably will make of it, it's much easier for the women to just do it themselves  :taunt: So stick that in yer pipe and smoke it men folk lol  :kiss
