dnks34
Must agree for a broken ankle an ambulance would have done the job, there must have been more to it.
BroadScot
If the ASR was out on a exercise, it would be called to the shout I guess. Iain
Cheesey
If the ASR was out on a exercise, it would be called to the shout I guess. Iain Your right. When we called to a shout, sometimes we go in mob handed to treat it as an extended training exercise. Once we had a car fire and trumpton turned out with 2 pumps, foam unit and high lift lights and command unit.
Wussername
A broken ankle or a diclocated ankle can lead to serious complications. If there is no pulse to the foot, after a short period of time, amputation can be the only solution.
fishtone
I thought Air ambulance was run as a charity so if this is correct no charge to NHS etc. Correct me if I am wrong. .
BroadScot
That wasn't an air ambulance, it was ASR Air Sea Rescue RAF Chopper, in the film, i think? Iain.
Labrador
Correct Iain, I think you will find it came out of Norwich where they are training with the MCA to take over when RAF finishes operating the Sea Kings.
CooWee
"serious complications" It certainly can, I've had a total ankle replacement operation and the night before they wheel you in a nurse writes on your, in this case, right leg TAR with and arrow pointing to the ankle. Somehow this isn't reassuring!
MauriceMynah
Is there room on the other ankle to write "Feather"?
ExUserGone
Is there room on the other ankle to write "Feather"? The other ankle had "This way up" written on it, it's the user manual for the new one.

alexandlorna
What worried me was when I was in hospital having cut off two fingers and the surgeon came to speak to me about re- attaching them I looked at the white "crocs" he was wearing and they were marked with his name and a large L and R That put the wind up me alright !!!

Baitrunner
They are top guys who fly those choppers - I have only just managed to watch the video - and was hoping he might chop a few of those stick things down Seriously they can write all over me just as long as they cut the right bit - it's like the nurse who was told to prick a boil - you can work out the punch line. Wussername
Some years ago a chap was rescued by helicopter from his cruiser, on Barton broad. The down draft sank the boat!
JennyMorgan
Some years ago I'd been on a shout with the Coastguard and was returning to the airfield when we deviated course so that we went over Reedham. There the doctor that we had on board returned to his yacht that was moored at The Ferry, we'd picked him up on the way out. I met up with him a few weeks later, seems that he never had to buy a drink for the rest of the day, the holidaymakers treated him as a hero. I suppose the novelty of a helicopter hovering low over the jetty there and lowering a bloke onto his yacht made their holiday.
