  1. Absolutely, Vaughan! With all the dreadful happenings of late one often forgets the wonderful "Pax Britannica" of bygone years.
  2. A lovely read, Andrew. I'm looking forward to your continuance!
  3. I gave up on that route North years ago and now it's A11, A14 and A1. 20 miles further to Newark but a heck of a lot less stressful!
  4. Howard said "Well the Huntsman is well and truly open. Looking very good and obviously popular. Looks like they have built a wall around the back (flood defence presumably). Beer was good (apart from the Doombar) and we tried the grub too which was excellent. Service was efficient and friendly and prices reasonable for the area. Highly recommended. Unfortunately not really walkable from the river". Tell that to Braveheart's crew, Howard! In fact they walked to Cantley and back to Bells Marina last week!
  5. But they're not bikes, Charlie, just fashion accessories!
  6. Read the Guidelines, John! Or here: Flaming Flames - posts that are excessively abusive, attacking, threatening, or aggressive in nature - are unacceptable and will be removed without warning. Whilst debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks, troublemaking or purposeless inflammatory posts. We reserve the right to remove or moderate without warning, any messages that use insulting, threatening, troublemaking, provoking or otherwise aggressive language, or any member who consistently behaves inappropriately. Our decision is final in these matters.
  7. Please let's get back on topic, peeps. I think that it's pretty easy to see where we might be going with this. As a gentle reminder, the NBN does care about ageism. I suggest that we occasionally read our Guidelines again. Trolling , Racism, Sexism, Ageism, Political and Religious Intolerance , Flaming It is very easy to get passionate about things but if any of the above titles are abused then please feel free to bring it to the Mods' attention.
  8. Quite correct, Charlie. I heard a lot about the owner when talking to an old guy in the Strumpshaw Huntsman last week and it is him who's dragging this out. My sympathies go out to Jamie and Izzy.
  9. Mod Hat OFF: Looking at Tim's original post it is obvious that this was written in jest, let's face it in the past I am sure we have all been chomping on the bit behind an older driver that should have relinquished their licence years ago, from our parts we have always called these drivers Flat Cappers! I am a 75 year old wrinkly and it didn't bother me a bit. You might also notice that not another word has been said against this, Kadensa.
  10. If I forget to remove ours to underneath my pillow it goes off every time I burn the toast/bacon/sausages/whatever. It's so loud that I have to rush out and calm peeps down if we're close to other boats....
  11. You have a lovely way with words, Jayfire, and it's a pleasure to read!
  12. Super start, Jayfire! Much looking forward to the next installment!
  13. Well that's three of us! Come on you peeps!
  14. Bump on this to remind peeps what is going on. I wrote: Beccles YS is being run this year by WDC rather than Sentinel. They require: A risk assessment including the marquee Third party group insurance A safety officer for the event. We cannot comply with this, however I have booked a mooring for that weekend for Friday Girl. There is nothing to stop anyone else doing likewise (but we won't have the marquee). So far Bound2Please and us are self-booked in (and now MauriceMynah!)
  15. We left Salhouse that Sunday morning after the Meet and maintained our usual 4-5 mph all the way to Acle Bridge. I counted the number of boats who were observing speed limits on one hand.......... Horning was particularly bad.... That gin palace should have been reported by every boat that he might have overturned; yes it's that serious. I wrote an article on bathtub stability a few years ago but I can't find it at the moment. If you reach a certain angle of heel ( a very LARGE one) you might experience negative stability and that would really frighten you. Near Brundall a rather large ski-towing speedboat overtook us very closely and caused absolute chaos with lots of breakages..... I was too concerned to get his registration at the time.
  16. A Warm Welcome Aboard from us too, Minifer.
  17. I've heard of it but is it as good as the ads say, please?
  18. Oh Griff....... you do know how to lighten my mornings, Mate!
  19. A warm welcome aboard the good ship NBN from us, Steve and Ang!
