  1. I saw Sunbird leaving on a low loader from NBD on Thursday morning.
  2. We’re on the Broads this week and a lot of boats look like they have never seen a mop since March! In the past I’ve seen Summercraft wash their boats from the windscreen to the waterline. I know at least one yard only lifts their boats every 2 years so by now they are looking very neglected.
  3. Wow, that's some distance on that small tank of fuel.....
  4. That’s Lady Jane, a Bounty 37 with a white sliding canopy. She came from a yard in Abingdon after they closed. I remember one set of hirers never returned it on time and abandoned the boat in Marlow, after removing the bed linen, pots & pans, crockery etc!
  5. Somewhere near Staines I think, they were gone by early 91. Vaughan was running some boats in Staines by then.
  6. I know Chris's dad built a couple of boats in the 60's but nothing much since then as far as I'm aware. We used to carry out the odd interior refit but as the boats have become more modern it's probably not required now. I was there April 91 to April 2001, at one point there was around 25 cruisers and around 10 dayboats, think they are down to about 15 or so cruisers and focus on quality over quantity now. Think they have more dayboats now as well. Yes, maintenance was outside and subject to all weathers which we had to work around, the only thing that stopped us was the occasional flood as per below. The first 2 were taken around 1993, give or take a year. The last is from the late 90's, I'm on the left with some unfortunate chap in the middle - probably their birthday dunking!
  7. I actually remembered the name overnight! It's a long time ago now but I don't think it was there for very long, if a boat had a poor letting history it was normally moved on for something more profitable. I'm only guessing but the 2 singles probably put a lot of couples off.
  8. Kris Cruisers had a Bounty 28 when I started there in 1991, think it was sold a year or 2 later. Cannot remember what it was called though.

Waters Edge is Bramerton, the one in Wroxham is called The Waters Edge.

Might be in the area in around 10 days time, might have a look. It’s called The Waters Edge now and their Facebook pages mentions local ales so we’ll see.
  11. This was set up between Perkins and Volvo Penta Sweden at least 25 years ago so before my time and no one in the UK was involved. However, as I understand it VP didn't want the cost of developing a new range of small engines and Perkins were happy to leave the selling to VP.
  12. They are often 3 times the price of single filter versions, but if you're at sea with a blocked filter I would say they are worth it!
  13. I've no idea of the circumstances but if the low fuel pressure was due to down to partially blocked filters this could cause the engines to go into limp home. Without this feature the engines could have continued at full chat, blocked the filters faster and then stalled completely. At least with limp home you have some control which is better than none, it also buys you time to try and resolve the issue.
  14. Looks like the biggest Yanmar without a turbo is 57hp, once you get to around this power you need turbos to keep the emissions down. Biggest Nanni without a turbo seems to be 47hp.
  15. Out of interest Clive are you now a member of the Broads Hire craft Federation and offering free mooring to other hire craft? When the hire boats are out would you have space for visiting private craft as well?
  16. Hire boats are usually restricted but the yards know they could be going through Yarmouth so they will make an allowance for this.
  17. I'd stick to horses for courses, narrow boats for canals, wide beam for wide canals and Broads cruisers for river systems like the Broads, Thames etc.
  18. You did say you're not worried about a bit of work..... https://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/Classic-Motor-Boats-for-sale/borwicks-windermere-launch/350497#
  19. Have a great week, looks like a scorcher!
  20. This has made me wonder what happened to all the wooden dayboats that Loynes had? We had 2 at Kris Cruisers for a couple of years but think they went to somewhere in Scotland. There were quite a few so would have thought some would have survived, has anyone seen one recently?
  21. Have you seen this one? https://boats-from.co.uk/not-specified/motor-launch-wooden-day-boat-inboard-diesel-17ft-norfolk-broads-229245
  22. Ok, item 60 is no longer stocked although the ferrules are still available, p/n is 860028. Item 61 is available and in stock, approx. £80 retail price, p/n 845646 They are not marked with the BSS spec number but are marine type approved for Lloyds etc, however they are so old I cannot find the certificate. If there is nothing obviously wrong with them I'd call the BSS office and explain they are original equipment fitted to every AD41B and see what they say. It may be possible to carefully cut the old hose off the fittings and have someone crimp the BSS spec hose onto them.
  23. Let me know the correct item and I'll have a look. If it's number 60 though it's no longer stocked.
  24. Just had a very quick look for one week in October so there's probably a few more but how about this one of these?
