  1. Thanks for that it is only when you look at the buildings, 5 storey? And the height of the masts on some sizeable yachts that you appreciate the true perspective and the size of the crane.
  2. There you go a black one. This is the same as my Neff which is 11 years old
  3. Try E spares, they have helped me out on numerous occasions. I think Neff have the same little timer knob. A quick google brings up plenty of Bosch, Siemens, Neff ones in silver

I think you really need to be central then, like Horning. To get from Stalham to Ant Mouth is the best part of 2 hours.
  5. I did not know it was that far away, must admit I have only been by car. I do like The Great Orme though.
  6. If you are in Llandudno for an hour and a half that should be time enough to go to the Captain's Table on the Summit of The Great Orme, not for the food but going up on the cable car and down on the cable tram or Vica Versa.

    Mooring Advice

I would recommend Broadsedge at Stalham. We had 10 seasons there and were very pleased. Electric, two new shower blocks, workshop facilities etc. Downside:- Being at the top of The River Ant! It never bothered us because in the summer season we travelled it very late or very early. In Winter it is the delight and and the jewel of The Norfolk Broads that it should be. But during the Summer School holiday time it can be nothing short of a nightmare , especially the Ludham Bridge area. If the weather was set fair to mudweight we would go as far as Barton, drop the ground tackle and wait until dusk or leave at just before dawn.
  8. Very nice Siddy! But you have missed Tan Hill, Swaledale and the Buttertubs. As a South Coast sort of guy even I call it God's country. You also need a few hours at Malham and Gordale Scar.
  9. I think, well anyway the last time I looked Mick Dunlop went round at 133mph but Mark Higgins in his Subaru WRX STi (Prodrive TT Attack car) has inched up and did nearly 129mph on a 37 mile circuit that is really quite something. "YouTube" it.
  10. About the time when Billingsgate moved from Upper Thames Street to the Isle of Dogs in the early 80s they used to say you could not build on the isle because it was silt and marsh and that is why the new market was only single story.
  11. I have done the same, when returning to Broadsedge in high season we would regularly pass through Ludham Bridge before day break. In the summer holiday period we would often complete our days journey before breakfast. In June it is light at 0400 a wonderful time to be underway. Having said that our four stroke petrol outboard power unit was whisper quiet.
  12. I think long term, the potential for a very smart development of luxury appartments with a marina will not go unnoticed. With rail access into the expanding city and easy access to the A47 they would be snapped up.
  13. So from your link this was how The Ferry was when it suffered a direct hit in 1941 killing over 20. I think it was attributed to a German bomber not finding target and having to unload before the return crossing of the North Sea and subsequent landing.
  14. If you wish to make progess in any direction apart from downwind you will need something to stop you going sideways. This is normally a "Centre Board" but a leeboard arrangement works well. I had leeboards on Granta folding canoe in my teens and it sailed well.
  15. We passed by yesterday and it really is something to behold. It looked to me that demolition, re-pile and frame up, then rebuild is probably the way forward.
  16. About half of fatal boating accidents in the US involve drugs or alcohol. One fatality is too many but one cap may not fit all. A rowing boat on the park pond, a Broads Cruiser with it's 45hp and a RIB with twin 350hp Yams on the transom require different degrees of concentration. And skill.
  17. MM, you know full well there are three classifications called Wherry: Trading, clinker built black sails etc. Pleasure Wherry, all cabin transom hung rudder etc and in my opinion the best of the lot The Wherry Yachts with their beautiful counter sterns. Each have their devotees I like wherry yachts because of their looks and because they do actually "sail" my favourite is Norada being the smallest and having a boom she actually goes about and points pretty high.
  18. Sailed from The Swan , Horning to South Walsham on Norada via Malthouse where we mud weighted for lunch. As we were ahead of schedule we also moored up at Cockshoot and walked around the boardwalk.
  19. She looked immaculate today from the deck of Norada.
  20. If your auto is in Drive you should use the footbrake not the parking brake to stop it going forwards and an auto in Drive should not run backwards, it should be possible to hold it however steep a hill it is on just on the throttle. I never touch my parking brake when driving even though my car is a "stop/start" type even onthe steepest of hills. The only time I apply it is after I engage Park. However I do drive a conventional torque converter type of auto after having loads of problems with German "Twin Clutch" autos and Japanese "CVTs"
  21. Most of my driving has been done in company cars and as stated above they have to last 3 years. However on a personal level the best two cars we have actually owned for reliability were Judith's 1973 Citroen Dyane which we had for 11 years and outshining all her 1989 Mercedes 190E auto. Both were bought new and serviced as per their schedule. We drove the 190E for 17 years and gave it to another family member in 2007 when we moved to Norfolk. Apart from normal replacements it's only failures were the viscous cooling fan at about 90K and the ignition/steering lock at 70K.
  22. It is a shame that waiting rooms don't take mag donations anymore. We had every Norfolk/Anglia Afloat. About 10 years of Classic Boat and about the same of The Field. And they also ended up in the recycling nobody wanted them.
  23. I always thought FSO Polonez used out of date Fiat lumps. That was another car I had for a while a Fiat Supermirafiori twin cam Sport. Like someone said about their Alfa! When it ran and was on tune it was fantastic. Sadly that was not too often.
  24. Totally correct it had the biggest SU I think I have ever seen feeding the turbo. This gave the car a bit of a funny trait. If you dropped a cog or two to set up for a corner as the revs rose the car would accelerate for about a second, I think it must have been some sort of residual fuel and the turbo thinking it was wanted. My following car was a Rover 825 Stirling which was a really lovely car for it's day both took me down to Port Leucate twice effortlessly
  25. I agree with what you say about the roundabouts being low. I also only use a short section from Postwick to the Coltishall Road. But on a couple of occasions I have found myself approaching one of the roundabout, probably Salhouse Road too fast. I do drive a high ground clearance SUV type of car.
