History is here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haddiscoe_Cut
It's basically a canal cut for navigation to vessels from OB to Norwich.
it is neither Waveney or Yare but a navigation in it's own right.
And I expect JM and Vaughan will verify, it's been a bad road all the way back to at least the fifties since I was young.
The whole of the road has always and will be a local racetrack. The Stracey Arms was bad enough but possibly the worst part of the whole road is the left turn to Halvergate (Which most of the sugarbeet traffic use) was always an accident waiting to happen.
Yes been up and running now for a few months. good thing about their new builds like Aldi, is you cannot get lost in them, all built and stocked the same.
News reports of a major collision at the Yacht station all emergency services called.
More as it comes in on BBC Radio Norfolk
4 ambulances, air ambulance, inshore rescue, fire and rescue, police in attendance
At least two people entered the water after two vessels collided by the White Swan.
Also reports of fire.
Polly
being born in Fritton I knew of it, but never visited the Burgh castle one. Nor had much need to see Breydon whilst they sailed. I think it was only there for about 20 years until they moved to Gorleston.
Like CC, I too was in the trade. But as a manager with Whitbread.
I was offered first refusal on the pub that I managed at the time. With the terms that Enterprise wanted for the premises, the term for supplies from the tied brewery and their tied spirits and soft drinks supplier.
The staff needed to run such a huge premises, plus other overheads meant I would be getting less wages than a barman
So that is what it became a first refusal. I went into golf club stewardship after that. Regular income less hassles, great clientele. Happy times
Spoiler Alert
Problem is great looking photo.
But to burst your bubble.
It's someone in tan trousers with the crotch strap of their life jacket attached.
