  1. Queen of the Paint Brush strikes again.
  2. All Ford UK Parcel vans were built at Martin Walters Dormobile factory in Folkestone. I remember lots of Ford parts were delivered to Dormobile regularly. panels frames and boxes and boxes of lights and I'm sure mirrors. I was a Trade Plate delivery driver for Ford, At Dormobile Tile Kiln Lane most weekdays. Collecting and driving Parcel vans all over the UK and NI. Other duties included Ford fleet Press Cars. The rental company deliveries, Police cars And the royal visit Granada Estate fleet too. Even down to bare coach chassis during the Falklands conflict.(Boy was that cold in the winter) The mirrors were affixed to the top panel above the front sliding doors and hung down on quite long arms. They were the right height to catch on 30mph lollipop signs so plenty of passenger-side ones were casualties of that. All new vans were supplied in a khaki coloured primer never painted as lots of them went to conversion companies who turned them into buses, welfare buses with tail-lifts, Camper vans and lots more.
  3. Worked for me Arthur, but Firefox threw a Cert warning
  4. If the Norfolk dialect intrigues you from that book look out for "Mighta bin Wuss". By Tony Clarke It comes from a series of articles published weekly in the Eastern Daily Press. These go back to just after the war. I remember my father regaling us in his broad accent every week. Enjoy your retirement. before long you will wonder how you fitted in work into your schedule.

  6. Finally got time to sit down and compose myself and this. I have known Mike since 2005, met him in person in 2009 at a forum meet from the other side. We seemed to hit it off straight away. But that was Mike the affable man as ever. I have over the years enjoyed Mike and Aunty Pat's company on many occasions. So, I thought it fit that I should attend, his last big party here on earth. The most fitting Service, a tribute to his life, we were ushered into the sounds of The Fureys ( a theme which continued throughout the service. ) "My Father's House". After the welcome and Words on Greif. There followed a most wonderful eulogy written By Aunty Pat and her Grandaughter Mary. Then The poem Leader of the Scouts. This was followed by Reflection music again the Furey's, "This one's for you". To which I knew every word and was so poignant. This started the tears welling up. (If you haven't heard it please look it up on YouTube) There was then a continuation of the Eulogy and then the committal. And finally, we filed out to The Fureys "The Old Man" Then followed many hugs and lots of tears. We all alighted to the hotel for nibbles and a good chat, mostly about boating as befits. Must admit to tears most of the way home to Kent. But the journey was worth it to pay my respects to such a great and wonderful man Rest in Peace Mike, pain free at last. Was great to see the NBN so well represented. P.S Griff have fixed the satnav with a 7 pound lump hammer. I'm off for another cry now.

  8. Only thing you haven't changed is the ammeter. Would remove it and test the resistance across it should be in point something Ohms. under .2 would be good. alternatively, a pp9 battery and a pair of croc leads should make it max out. Swap the leads round if it's low

  11. That would be the lovely Courtney Yule. Sadly Due to cuts in the BBC Local Radio programmes. There are only two more Radio Norfolk Treasure quests left. The last one is September 10th. It's been running since 2008 and has become a Sunday morning institution. Has promoted lots of local events and raised lots for Children in need. Sad to see it taken off the airways It must be one of local radio's longest-running shows.
