  1. well I have another 3 rounds of questions formulated, some will be easy, some not so easy, now I would post the categories up, but I cant remember the 3 I have already done, and I might want to play with the round titles on the ones I have just completed, so once I have done that i will post a notification, so you can swot up on what you think the subjects will be.
  2. nah, but there may be some ideas in what you have said.....
  3. well I have 3 of the rounds of questions worked out.
  4. in the antiques business patina is everything, polishing brass is a big no-no. to restore the wood tthey would use meths and a very fine wire wool to remove any dirt and loose or flakey varnish, then wax with a beeswax polish. having said all of that - its a boat, its your boat, so do what you want, its going to be in a harsh marine environment, so if you polish the brass up, you will need to regularly repeat, if you varnish the wood, it will still need regular maintenance, just to keep it in tip top shape. (to be fair, even if you dont polish and varnish, you will still need to keep on top of it.
  5. MM the problem is that due to those leaps in modern science the seasoning of timber is no longer done the traditional slow way, so the new planking may well not last as long as the original.
  6. you have (or someone has underlined the latter part of this clause), however, in the first part it does clearly state maintenance, improvement and development, nowhere does it mention abandonment, to me this reads that the reasonably required standard, only apportions to the 3 items mentioned, while yes they could deem that maintenance was below standard, that does not mean it could be abandoned altogether, it does mean that if you renew your quay heading on your property, and the BA deemed it not up to their standard, then you could be liable to replace it to their standard at your cost. At least thats how it comes across to me
  7. Actually MM, I think you will find that omni-directional is any way forwards
  8. Vaughan, I do believe that your quote is slightly misleading, which is colouring JM's response, it is always said there is a bible quotation for every event, but looking at other translations of that verse in this instance translates differently - ie so in your quotation the word pricks is not being used in the vernacular, but to infer constant attacks or digs at someone
  9. the answer is yes it is shining a spotlight, but that is in the infra red light range, so only visible to the camera, but not to humans.
  10. I have seen some of the LED ones, 200 hours - hmm when I drive early mornings several are blinking - low battery.
  11. I was thinking general brainlessness
  12. there is a very good chance it is an IR spotlight, so nothing visible - except to the camera
  13. ooh at least one topic I may do well in there.
  14. my sat nav is located securely out of reach from the driving position, and while it turns on automatically, it just shows where I am and the direction I am heading
  15. to be fair I think a sat nav is also a distraction from driving (though at times they can be helpful too, but they are still a distraction)
  16. True Fred, and like anything else if your mind is otherwise engaged and you are not concentrating on what you are doing the results can be just as bad, good driver or not.
  17. I too got way more points that I thought, its easy to be lulled into a false sense of security.
  18. yes, but you then have to win the next quiz
