  6. I always use smaller yards I feel you get better customer service although there are one or two exceptions It is a pity about Richardsons because up to now over the past decade their image had improved tremendously Ray
  7. It is jumping on the bandwagon But do you blame them for making the most of a business opportunity. Ray
  8. I did a similar think to you Griff On a cruise a bought a box of Smarties sorted the red ones and gave them as Sea Sickness pills no one was sick and next day ask where I got them Strange thing is my ex would not believe me When I said they where Smarties Ray

  10. Hi Springsong How things have changed you look about 16 in that photo, Nowdays Richardsons will not hire to an adult and teenagers Ray
  11. In general a lot quieter in particular Southern Rivers Boats in those days where nearly all hire boats, with virtually all one week holidays starting Saturday now with a lot more short breaks boats seem to stick above Acle. More gadget's today most not required in my view A lot of moorings lost now with the closing of hire yards with moorings there becoming private Ray
  12. I got the bug from my father We had a small boat moored in Folkestone Harbour Then he wanted to take the family on the broads and off we went That was 1964 been every except two since Ray
  13. Howard I think you may be right re take up every time I walked around the yard last year it was in Ray
  14. If I was Robin reading this and the YBW thread I think I would tell all of us to get lost Ray
  15. Richardson's have changed there policy They now will not hire to Single parents but apparently will allow solo hire at there discretion strange
  16. I agree with you Peter Maybe they will but no insurers premiums vary wildly so that may be the consideration. It does seem a strange policy I am sure you like myself could handle a boat well before sixteen years old Ray
  17. I think it is more than one yard it is all yards that insure with one particular insurer There are yards on northern rivers that will hire to single parents Ray
  18. Hi I understand the need for discussion We start linked topics on Haven Bridge and Sea Sickness I am suggesting the same for this topic because I have the feeling it will run and run Ray
  19. With due respect Ricardo When this sort of topic gets discussed everyone joins in lots of posts no problem but it I come onto to this thread to read about Indy not a great debate about moderation Ray
  20. Peter I believe it is one insurer not the yards Ray
  21. Hi Loddonlad This does not apply to all yards only those who insure with one particular insurer Waterways Holidays have boats available on the broads for single parent families Ray
  22. I can understand those that want to discuss the moderation of Mr B post But would it be a good idea to start a new thread on the subject Ray
  23. Not sure Lowestoft is more friendly If I recall correctly Griff had to abort a trip in 2016 because of problems with access through Mutford lock Ray
  24. There statements says maintenance and building not hire NYA have a planning application in to incorporate the moorings in the basin into there adjacent site I would assume they have let the sheds and dyke moorings to Broads Boating Co
