  1. My brother has just told me it's the highest he has seen in Horning in also 50 years. Apparently my dinghy has floated off it's trailer in the dinghy store!!!
  2. Pretty sure I've posted this boat before but Pearl Gem B89 moored up between Stansted Lock and Hardmead Lock on the Lee Navigation today. As usual into the sun
  3. Might be a school party moored up so the Swan was probably quiet! I've encountered one on several occasions during the half term week. There is also sailing cruiser down river today as well - briefing at the New Inn but probably starting further down?
  4. Coming back from Barton Regatta in 2016. I remember one Barton Regatta possibly 2009 or 2010, three Wherries came back down the Ant on the Tuesday morning almost in convoy - it was chaos at Ludham Bridge! One was Albion, one was Solace but I can't remember the other one!
  5. Yesterday whilst passing Horning Ferry, I commented how busy the opposite moorings were until I realised they were all Ferry Marina boats moored up!
  6. The houses on the other side of the road on the left hand side are almost correct - you can just see one of the houses built on the Percival site development in 1970 (to the left of the steps up to the field. As webntweb says the garden is much longer and there used to be a large willow tree in the 1970s - not sure when it came down. On the right side you should be able to see Southgates Boatyard yards ...... So quite a degree of artistic license has been employed

    My Day

It was extremely high at Horning over the weekend - I was stepping up onto my brother's boat and it was very soggy around the sailing club! Haven't heard anything about how bad it might be down towards the Ferry though?
  8. I drove up to Horning this afternoon. Cloudburst overhead from Attleborough took 3 hours and the road from Hoveton to Horning was a river!!! Hopefully tomorrow will be better!
  9. There wasn't a photo of the picture?
  10. My understanding is that that is the new mast. Note that Kate could do the Friday quiz moored on the Ant. Not sure if everyone in Horning is happy yet?
  11. If they are opening the tower at the weekend the view is superb!
  12. Copied from the Horning Community FB page. Hope admin don't mind as relevant to those on holiday etc. _----_-------------------------------------- Update on the phone signal/temporary mast HPC met with the company which will do the construction on the temporary mast for O2 last week, on the recreation ground. Unfortunately, this site is not considered viable and O2 will be housing this mast on a farm, just on the offskirts of Horning (plan B). All of Horning will still be covered by this; the signal strength is not decreaed due to being outside of the center of Horning. Those on various contracts (Vodafone etc.) - those network providers are coming in with O2 on this temporary mast. The building works will commence shortly, and the mast will be live around 26th September.

Oh dear - s**d's law! Were the cats coming with you by the way?
  16. I 'sailed' past you on Sunday - I say sailed, I drifted, paddled and finally made my home moorings along the river. No wind and against the tide...............
  17. Tide times haven't been too good for Yarmouth - that might be a reason so nothing come south yet?
  18. The river at Horning was heaving with day boats. New Inn full
  19. I'm hoping to make it as well if the Horning WiFi holds up!!!! But I will raise glass regardless!
  20. Yes maybe the mods could actually correct my typo? and edit to say that?
  21. A lot of housing developments were on hold due to concerns about the pollution effect these would have on the environment / water bodies without mitigation. The government has simply decided to abandon the rules so that the house builders can start building again - needless to say the shares of many of those companies involved went up yesterday. There is a need for more housing or at least affordable housing - I suspect many of these developments contain little or no affordable housing and will be just another blot on the landscape. For example where I live, the previous council just decided to remove a large area of land from the greenbelt so that a massive housing estate could be built with no supporting infrastructure, limited water supply and an already overloaded local sewage system............ the local elections proved what support the local electorate had for their plans...........

We've already made cucumber relish and tomato relish. The mint is doing exceedingly well and loads frozen to make mint sauce in the winter. Next it will be dealing with the Bramley apples from our veteran tree! The house built in the 60s was built on an orchard but all the fruit trees retained. Some have been cut down but we got the best tree imho!
  23. The yachts have out lived the motor cruisers - Buttercup is also pretty old, I just can't remember when she was built.
  24. Pass as we walked. I think you would need to ask them. They may have a dedicated parking by the restaurant but they are on good terms with Ferry Marina /the staff that work there!
