  2. Public Transport. A whole new audience for the Griffin Joke Book....
  3. Never knew it had an official name. Every day is a learning day! That's why we need fenders! A friend once told me that if we were to replace the air bags on modern cars with a carving knife pointing towards the driver, speeding, careless driving and accidents would be all but eliminated! Perhaps we should replace the fenders with five pound notes attached to the rubbing strakes and, at the end of the week, we only get to take the whole ones home again
  4. There is a boat jumble on the 11th August at Beccles Yacht Station.
  5. Lots of varnish and get the brasso out. It will look fabulous. As far as whether you should or not, it's yours to do with as you see fit so have what you want.
  6. Different strakes.... These will all be in their original gelcoat at this time of course and one is or appears to be lighter?
  7. If you know the build date I would recommend asking the good people of this forum (who have never let me down yet) to dig out their Blake's and Hoseasons catalogues from the period and have a look at all the entries for Falcon's and ask them to copy them here. I would suggest from 1976 to 1978/9. If you can see the various layouts and oddities in rubbing strakes, deck furniture, hand rails etc. there is a very good chance you will, by process of elimination, identify your boat.
  8. I wouldn't if there is a pub nearby. They may never get to the boat
  9. 3.... Impossible to start Christmas before December 1st!
  10. All Broom Skippers seem to be sold as Broom Skippers no matter who by or where they were fitted out.... not even as Aquafibre Skippers! As for the boat in question on here I have seen similar style interior in an Andrews (of Bourne End) build. They used to buy in hulls for their new builds and were quite prolific builders of both cruisers, some sea going, and slipper launches. My first question would be what are the bulkheads made of? You can always tell the quality of a build by the material behind the veneers or formica's. There are a lot of chipboard bulkheads out there! A well maintained plywood top will be better than a poor condition fibreglass one by the way.
  11. Fog-X It's Rain-X's mate and works nicely. Then again my mum always cleaned her windows inside with neat vinegar and swore by it for keeping the condensation down on the glass. However, she never has the heating on, preferring a thicker coat, so what's there to condensate?
  12. Oops, Friday (today now) evening in the chatroom 20.30hrs Can someone clever put the chatroom link in for me

  14. She is still Merlin and belongs to a forum member. I shall let him reveal himself should he so choose. He owns three wooden boats so tends to keep a low profile to avoid the men in white coats

  16. Dr Who, The Black and White Minstrel Show. Bullseye, Blake's 7...
  17. I would be tempted to aim a fan heater at it for a few hours and dry it out before forcing it and risking damaging the edges. Once out I would follow the advice above and ease it followed by candle wax on the edges to help it in the future.
