Some of those days boats from Oulton Broad arrive at Beccles at low tide with three foot of knotted apology attached to their cleats which won't even reach the mooring post let alone actually secure the boat!

Bump tiddly bump bump I remember now, should have asked for the thread to be pinned as well

Yellow tail! Twas me and a friend who put the 18ft fibreglass shark on her roof for a week until someone suggested it would look better hanging from the arm of "the call of the sea" statue outside Tuttles and so we went and retrieved it.

2018 Calendar Competition Entry for the 2019 calendarThread
JanetAnne replied to Bound2Please's topic in The Broadscot Lounge
Ok people, sadly this competition is now closed even though we could all just go on and on enjoying the superb shots being submitted. We will now organise your entries into the voting thread over the next couple of days after which you will have the hard job of picking the best of the best for our 2019 calendar. Well done and many thanks to you all for your support so far. It's been a real pleasure seeing such a spectacular selection offered over the time. -

Wasn't that a James Bond film?

We all have a selection of unfinished projects... I've just come across this, Seraphina in Martham Boats shed! Unfortunately she had become known as Scrapafina - you can see why. Her restoration was started by a chap who we surprisingly discovered lived next door to my son down here in the Chilterns. Sadly a back injury bought his dreams to a very sudden halt and she was sold to a new owner (I think he was a judge or something similar). He finished the restoration a a project to sell on. That must have been six years ago ish.

Is that an MG T series in your avatar btw?

2018 Calendar Competition Entry for the 2019 calendarThread

Your jpegs will be perfectly acceptable. Those able to send in RAW or CYMK or whatever it was will also be most welcome. The calendar will be stunning and possibly one of our best yet - have you seen this years selection that we have to choose from? I had wondered about having a calendar for this year's wooden boat show but it seems 'Fabulous Woodies' was more likely to get me an appointment with the constabulary than the printers -
That makes sense. It was dark when we passed her but I said it didn't look right! Yes I knew Seraphina was rebuilt purely to sell on and was still out there somewhere. Will look forward to seeing floydraser out and about. Transportation by road can't have been cheap though. I know how much it costs to move one just 100 miles!

Not sure if it's any help but Seraphina (ex Santa Margarita) is moored alongside one of the downstream bungalows at Potter. She still has her original canopy arrangement.

You need to sleep longer!

Ok, I'll say it then.... If you are short of mammoths there are plenty here, so much so there's a mammoth sale in the local store. Says so in the window.

Last restoration parts? You'll be using words like 'finished' next

I do hope that Beccles Town Council and whatever 'trust' has been deemed to be needed to run this little lot now actually put up and get on with it. If as much money had been spent on the asset in the last few years as has been used in meetings, site visits, plans, assessments, re assessments and in house politics between WDC, Sentinel and BTC they would have already had a facility to be proud of!

For boat owners based in the marina who had use of the car park for free it is going to be a costly affair.
