  1. Like I said, it's not a requirement on private vessels so your existing set up passes. However they do exist
  2. My dinghy is 30 odd foot long....lol I do wonder though whether dinghy space will be seen as lost revenue and limited if these charges do come about
  3. Under the current regulations a Flogas clip on butane regulator, provided it is in good condition, will pass when fitted to a private boat. Best practice suggests any regulator has 'marine' stamped on it and some butane clip on units already do, however, it is my understanding that this is not mandatory... yet. Seeings as you asked (), my boats are all on propane, except Water Rail which will be once her butane stash is exhausted, and all use marine regulators. My specific experience with the Flogas clip on regulators is from other boats going through the BSS.
  4. The base on the flogas bottles varies. The ring comes in 4 different sizes, one of which is slightly wider than the bottle itself. The variation comes from their bottles coming from different sources. I do wonder whether calor will be refunding the deposits on the bottles they so happily sold us now they are no longer supporting those bottles. Somehow I doubt it
  5. Not sure he should be allowed out at all regardless of whats dangling
  6. I think the real skill is in making something so complicated and labour intensive look so easy! I reckon Robin has just condensed somewhere around 200 hours of hard graft into the above few paragraphs. He's a clever bugger.... just don't tell him
  7. That'll be a first You could always do the decks red.... everything else you have been near is, the floor, the ladder, Robins tools, the cafe
  8. Not doubled up in the way you mean Vaughan. This is a Martham 'Janet'. She was originally built with a stepped deck, as per most of Martham's fleet, and was subject to modernisation in the 70's where the front was cut down and a single level deck completed. In the 2000's her then owner decided to reinstate her stepped deck but, of course, all the original ribs had been cut short. To overcome this, as you can see, a complete set of second ribs were installed between the originals to gain the new height required.
  9. As an alternative, Witham recommend their Marine Gloss which comes in a huge range of BS or RAL colours. Evidently it's the same ingredients but thinner than bilge paint. We just put two coats on to compensate.
  10. Had you asked this question a week ago I couldn't have answered but, having spent new year's day with a tin of Teamac bilge paint I was very impressed.

    Brrr!

    Oulton Broad this morning
  12. Know the weight of your mutt and make sure the jacket is appropriate Find a slipway and test it! Better to find out in a controlled environment Double check the handle is up to scratch. We had one come away (a very embarrassed Crewsaver member of staff immediately sorted it though - not as easy with online purchases)
  13. You really do need to buy some sofa's Helen!
  14. I believe the theoretical maximum from a 16a hook up is 3850 watts. However, not all hookups achieve a full 240v (remember it's 220 - 240v) and by the time you get a nice long shore power lead involved it could be even less! As Nigel says, aim for 2500/3000 watts max (about 13a) and there shouldn't be any resetting the trip in the dark in your pyjamas!
  15. Sitting here watching the Oulton Broad dredger I think I can safely say its diesel usage and subsequent emissions are definately not an issue.
  16. 'he' is Robin, a forum member and almost daily visitor. I am sure he will see this and let you know if the former was kept.
  17. Can we not grow bigger 'super lemons'? We could perhaps call them hybrid lemons and the propulsion system a hybrid drive?
  18. Just a quick aside, there are a lot of these Webasto's out there as reconditioned units. The exhaust silencer is not up to standard but, apart from that, they come with new loom etc and can be a very good buy. The reason there are so many is they come out of prestige cars (Range Rover etc). They do offer a secondary heating source for hot water and a towel radiator or will also run an entire boat through heat exchangers/radiators etc https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252144112661?
