  1. Gotta understand it first. The plan is to bring it back up to date but I need to learn about what I have before altering it. Thoughts, ideas, criticisms are all very welcome though.
  2. It is with a lot of excitement, some trepidation and a hint of sadness that I am pleased to announce that I am now the new custodian of Craigs database. 'Contracts' were exchanged over the weekend and the actual transfer took place today - well is all but finished. Craigs database was always run for pleasure by Craig, one of the Norfolk Broads biggest enthusiasts, and Craigs wife was keen to see it remain with an enthusiast rather than become something commercial. Craig will be a hard act to follow
  3. I believe the hirer said he'd had a 15 min trial (plus the videos). He had also managed to get all the way from Wroxham to Oulton Broad in a sizeable craft without incident on the way. A gust of wind caught an inexperienced crew out. I expect to get caught out myself in a similar way at least once this summer!
  4. The wooden in question was returned to its owners about 16.30 this afternoon having spent the day on a slipway having a decent temporary repair completed. They will be able to continue with their seasons boating. A full repair will be undertaken during her winter maintenance.
  5. I think that has always been the case.
  6. Hunters fleet, many of Marthams etc etc are well over 70 years old!
  7. Calories will 'buy back' (an interesting scenario on rented bottles) any old bottles that are taken to one of their main depots. I believe they offer a very poor £5 a bottle. There are only about a dozen main depots in the country, one of which is in Norwich. Sadly the uptake of this offer has been very limited, not only down to the fact that we all paid 6 times that (and then some) for the bottles in the first place but also the cost in fuel and time to actually take any bottles to the depots means it's costing you more to return unwanted bottles than they give you back! Calor have done this to themselves, firstly down to their greed in allowing more bottles to be sold than they could possibly service and secondly by their total inability to come up with a system that allows them to collect the millions of bottles sat empty in the retailers cages that their own (empty) lorries drive past every day. By the way, Flogas Butane is readily available from many B&M Homestores. You may need to change to one of their regulators in some instances but we all have a B&M nearby. Their stock levels are pretty good. Sadly the B&M's do not stock the Flogas propane range.
  8. If you have an aft or forward well you may find a piece of astro turf will help with canine ablutions
  9. What again? She'll have had more owners than a hire car at this rate!
  10. If it's long enough to clip onto a pulpit would it clip onto the handrail along the coach roof?
  11. I thought Nisa were part of the co-op but my loaf bought there yesterday said Tesco's on it!
  12. Did he pay or was that the reason for his hasty exit?
  13. Not sure I like the sound of that one. With my skills I could be liable every trip...
  14. 'between the posts' will only work if the posts are clearly recognisable.
  15. Fibreglass doesn't burn (or 95% of all fire blankets would not have the desired effect when used in anger), it's the polyester resin that holds the glass fibres together that burns. Epoxy resins on the other hand are mostly fire resistant.
  16. Last Friday. .. that's why he is still in short trousers!
  17. There was a majority of side on moorings back then. The boats used to come back with scuffs on their front quarters from quayheads which were religiously touched in. The transom rarely had a mark on it, perfect place for the name.
  18. Use the rear deck flagstaff socket? You can then have a pole of whatever height you choose and a couple of guy ropes to the hand rails if needed
  19. Yup, the whole flotilla gets to see you buggrr up your mooring attempt!
  20. How about we help with the cake and get rewarded with the engine
