    Tolls

I think it becomes unfair if you buy an untolled boat part way through the year, your paying for the whole year unless its changed?

    Tolls

Dont think this is anything new, boats in brokerage are not forced to renew the Toll. As soon as they sell, if the Toll hasn't been paid its due.
  3. A basic yet easential must have for me before anything else on any future boat purchase would be the boat must have beds that are not directly beneath poorly designed metal window frames meaning the bedding gets dripped on all night with condensation. If you are lucky you wake in the morning having had your face washed during your sleep, which is at least time saving even if somewhat iritating with drip drip drip on your head all night.
  4. For your requirements I wouldnt even mention the words liveaboard or residential when looking into moorings. no need to complicate matters when you will only be taking extended visits and your not technically living aboard (permenantly!)
  5. From experience be very careful trying to remove those 4 bolts. All 4 sheared instantly when attempting removal on our Nanni.
  6. I see it as school holiday week prices may well be getting to expensive for a lot of people when weighing up whats actually on offer.
  7. I agree, also Jet washing concrete or concrete made paving slabs over time will totally ruin the surface on them,
  8. Only problem is they cost £8 a go!! (but it is worth it!)
  9. The best thing you can do when buying yourself a Jet washer is to get yourself a compatible hose extension as the few feet of high pressure hose you usually get included are not really enough. I have an old basic Karcher i leave handy at the front of my garage with about 15metres of hose on the lance. It makes it much easier and more enjoyable to use than having to shift the whole unit round whatever your cleaning and my neighbours cant see that Im using a cheap jet washer that must be over 10 years old, the hose extension probably cost me more!!
  10. Why would the BA need to be setting up a Charity? Is this a normal thing? Or just another hair brained scheme so someone gets their face in the paper? At risk of sounding “uncharitable” surely the realm of a charity falls well outside the BA’s remit? I’m at a loss most of the time.
  11. Charging batteries, testing cooling system or trying to diagnose another fault possibly?
  12. Wind is very strong here in Lowestoft at the moment, I have just driven back from Beccles through St Olaves & Somerleyton and its very very blustery. It was reasonanbly calm this morning.
  13. The issue with boat heating is when you do have one that warms the boat up nicely the bi product is condensation which can equally be a pain, with little to no insulation and gaps around the window frames and roofs your fighting a loosing battle from flicking the switch! The best system in my opinion to have on a boat is a wet heating system with radiators. Reading between the lines i think your biggest issue was your hire yard and from their response to you I think I know who it was. When you hire a boat of any description everything should work, no excuses at any time of year. Having taken a boat out once with a blocked shower drain from the same yard it sounds all to familiar!
  14. I believe Bridge Road Oulton Broad will be closed at the level crossing by Oulton Broad North Station from 2300hrs Saturday 16th - 2000hrs Sunday 17th, the railway again disrupting the local economy. For the last 2 days the lifting bridge in Oulton Broad has been down to one lane with filter lights causing more disruption. Traffic is backing up for a good 1/2 a mile each way. It looks like Barrier repairs which in my opinion could be carried out at night easily. Dont think there was any prior warning for this one either.
  15. The only thing that may be guaranteed at this stage is money is being wasted on a project born from one mans ego that is most likely unachievable under the guise of a competition! Earth calling Broads Authority...........

    Over Wide Load

Enough money to buy the kit to do the job but obviously not enough brain cells to carry it out safely and within the law. No excuse really is there
  17. Did I not hear recently that some fishing platforms had been funded from the Toll Budget?
  18. I dont think the BA do get anything directly from fishing licence fees bit happy to be corrected, its not something I have ever noticed when looking at the yearly budget spreadsheets.
  19. If we are going down that road then Anglers & Conservationists ought to contribute financially to the Broads Authority!!! Its become a them and us again and it serves no purpose
  20. At least it should be clear of debris for the swimmers.......(whoops just slipped out!!!)
  21. Where did I mention in advance? You know as well as I do what I meant your are just trying to discredit my post. The BA come in for some bad press only for them to redress the balance (in another paper) about how good a job they are doing “dredging” which as Aboatime mentions is their job and they should be getting on with it! No conspiracy just basic PR?!
  22. The cynic in me sees this as a rather blatent attempt at diverting attention..... Lets make it look like we are doing something while the minions are stirring.......
  23. I remember this was last done in 2014.
  24. That aside, it isnt a National Park!!
  25. I see this as progress and it isnt something we ought to be putting down. The cracks are being noticed by those who may be in a position to effect change.
