  1. 2 miles an hour over the limit is 50% for a 4MPH limit or 33% for a 6MPH limit, or 40MPH in a 30MPH Limit would you not expect to be fined for driving at 40 in a 30MPH limit?
  2. Sadly too many believe that Awful film....
  3. No I didn't they didn't use furlongs on the railways!! and it's 100 links in a chain, 22 Yards in a chain, 10 CHAINS IN A FURLONG, 8 furlongs in a mile,
  4. Getting as bad as the Americans, In this case celebrating an Australian / American destroying our history....

I've had 18 vehicles in my life, none have had cruise control other than my right foot...
  6. I still remember reciting Rods, Poles and Perches at school. My other Hobby is model railways and I have to work from old railway drawings, they are measured in Chains. 4 Rods Poles or Perches in a Chain...
  7. I know I stretch the thread a little by including road works as far as Horning from the NDR but this is getting ridiculous! !!!
  8. Celsius (centigrade), Fahrenheit, Kelvin, 3 different systems. Sometimes I'm sure going metric is just to make more money out of us. A 8ft by 4ft sheet of ply is normally 2440mm by 1220mm, but sometimes they are a metric Sheet 2400 by 1200... but the price doesn't drop...
  9. There are now signs up saying the road works at the Hoveton Mini roundabouts will last for 20 Weeks!!! Chaos is about to resume!!!

What school car park would this be? I know of no school car park that is big enough to take anything other than the teachers cars, and most of those are hived of bits of the tarmac school playing field. leaving less room for the children to play when the ground is soggy.. I pass several schools on the way home from work and they are 20 mph limits anyway. Except the Broadland High which is on a major through road and Stalham which is on a through road at 30MPH

yep... The old type had big boxes to contain rolls of film, the new ones being digital don't need that. The M62 has a set of speed cameras hidden on the back of almost every other cross motorway gantry ( and there are a lot of them), like the M25 from the M40 To M4. The idea with it being smart which the M25 isn't, is to control the flow of traffic to reduce traffic jams from the A1 past the M1 to a few miles beyond. Have been up there with it in use, it's still a very long, slow, mobile car park.
  12. I've many times had stuff delivered at on pallets to our house, they definately didn't want them back, it really is poor quality wood and ours only go to our fireplace.

Unfortunately the hazard perception test is now causing it's own hazards with more and more people braking every time a car comes the other way. on the southern bypass I had someone in front of me, every time they got to a lorry they braked and then crept passed the lorry.

Yep that hasn't changed, only they used to ask for cash!! or you wouldn't be going home for a long time,, I wonder why they were more interested if they hadn't been paid....
  16. Anyone fancy £100 added to your bills for the Broads MOT? because that's the minimum it's likely to cost to have your boat lifted out to check the condition of your external hull fittings if that were brought in. Since there are a comparatively few boat lifts around I could see long queues and the rates on that going up!
  17. I noticed on another non Broads forum people were complaining about increases. But I have always (the last 40 years) got my insurance through a broker and a quality one will use their computers to get you the lowest quote for your required amount of cover. Going direct to one of the companies leaves you inline for this sort of increase. when I've phoned around myself I've never found a cheaper bid than through the brokers. Currently My brokers are SAGA. my old brokers got taken over by.... an insurance company and then the quotes went up by 50% in a year...so I left them.

As it happens...http://www.arabnews.com/news/728961 They often have American patrol cars, and can chose from Dunkin Donuts, MacDonalds,, Burger King, Subway, Wendy's, Kudu, and in Riyadh even I believe a Harry Ramsdens. though I quite liked the local Tamis and dip (the "special"round flat bread that is...)
  20. As you may have noticed I started this thread, and I mentioned later that I would let people know of any road works I know of in the area so that anybody avoiding the NDR road works won't then promptly run into another set of road works trying to get to the Broads. Oh and the Junction of the road to North Walsham on the Stalham / Hoveton road is close to completion maybe 1 or two more days. it appears to have been drainage works so the main road doesn't flood outside the Methodist Chapel.
  21. Microwaves and dishwashers are peanuts in cost compared to the hull, having them on board will attract many more customers from those who do the cooking and washing up. You are competing for people who go abroad on holiday and stay in hotels at a similar cost with out the need for catering themselves.

I thought the speed limit out there was 120KPH, the Saudi police are only strict with speed limits if they haven't been paid, then they wake up from parking their cars in the shade in the motorway underpasses..
  23. The Restoration of Rebel 1 is to be applauded, sadly there is some dispute over whether Rebel 16 is in class, Rebels 14 and 15 were also built in fibreglass to what had been the agreed class rules for the glassfibre boats. I have raced in Rebels as crew, just the occasional non race helming, they are a heavier boat but nice to sail and extremely good down wind. according the RYA they are slightly faster (1069) than the White boat (1117) or the Waveney (1117) but the Norfolk handicaps put the similar around the 12,13,14% mark. There is another Rebel class in America, but it is a large dinghy and no relation.
