  1. With the previous lack of money coming in, I'm betting if it was a lilo they'd hire it out at the moment..
  2. Hmm a death roll in one of those would be spectacular.. And expensive...
  3. if it floats.. yes. We often find fishermen mudweighting in the river at Horning, I gently warn them If I'm in the club rescue boat that they are going to be buzzed by lots of sailing boats and that what they are doing is illegal.. Once or twice all I've had is abuse back, 20 minutes later with a couple of dozen sailing boats going past a few inches away they decide to leave... With the fishing regulations Buried in the Navigational Regs, I doubt many fishermen have read them (let alone motors and sailers) I believe it would be better if they were separately published and available as a pamphlet for fishermen..
  4. As with all broads, mud weight at the windward end under the shelter of trees to reduce the chance of Dragging... If you're going to mud weight on Wroxham broad, then please keep out of the way of the racing marks, and generally out of the middle of the broad. If racing has resumed and your in the middle or by a buoy, you'll get a very annoyed rescue boat coming for a visit to tell you to move.. Oh mud weighting in the navigational channel, even if next to the bank is Technically illegal.. (Broads reg 64) which just about means any river.
  5. if you were there, You would be at you are here!!
  6. Most of the time you can get a mooring along St Benets Straight without mudweighting.. and walk from there to the Dog Inn Ludham.
  7. first had haggis with school dinners

    Road Works 2020

The road at (very at) Wayford bridge has been covered with multicoloured marks, expect big holes to be dug shortly.. The work at Tescos Stalham is a rebuild of the internals, including new refrigeration units. I note they've put barriers alongside the Chinese at Hoveton / Wroxham Bridge, I'm guessing to stop the idiots who think parking there to get something to eat is a good idea, reduces the other idiots who think wandering into the busy A road just because they are on holiday is also a good idea..
  10. If it's a black pudding it's blood type, unless possibly it's American they'll corrupt anything.. Their version of Worcestershire sauce is like mayonnaise that a chemical version of Worcestershire sauce passed by a Mile away..
  11. Well Tesco used to have macsweens maybe they will again, you can mail order macsweens easily anyway..

    My Day

    Go to at work in a lab 23C + - 1C
  16. Suns out, a broad heats up very rapidly, suns in and it's darn chilly..
  17. Bit different from a BIg Tescos, someone had dumped a victorian Chiminey pot into the sewer pipe when it was being built. after a camera went in and found it they had to dig the car park up to get it out..
  18. As I was also taught mouth to mouth a couple of years ago as rescue crew for the 3 Rivers Race.. The other thing about rescuing people from the Sailing is generally you don't. Normally you are rescuing the boat with person or persons on board, who have: Broken something on the boat. Run aground. Become exhausted or taken ill and just can't carry on. In the last 40 years of rescue boat duty I have pulled people out less than 5 times, but rescues of boats probably under half a dozen a year, most of them being tourists. Normally broken down hire boats.. it's a case of pushing them to the bank so they are safely out of the way and radioing back to the club so they can call the appropriate boatyard.. Mobile phones not being much use.. The latest increase in rescues, has been hire canoeists from Salhouse, unable to paddle against the wind or just falling in.. They of course are allowed out without nearby rescue boats.....
  19. Further to my comments yesterday, Last night I got an email from the RYA, as I guess everyone else did in the RYA, that they are still waiting for requested guidance from HMG as to the question of rescue boats for sailing. That's the only thing stopping the resumption of sailing / Racing ..
  20. In a normal year the first week of August is very busy, this year nobody knows yet. In Hoveton you have the Bure valley Railway a narrow gauge railway to Aylsham, and near to the Wroxham station Wroxham Miniature World's. My preference is for a boat that will go under Wroxham and Potter heigham bridges, it's definitely the case the bigger the boat the more room you need for manoeuvring and mooring.
  21. Easy the crew go down below, the bridge pilot will just need a mask and gloves
  22. how to go out and protest, no joking that was actually shown on a TV programme recently..
  23. including the sailing boat crew if the tide is strong and the wind not a lot..
  24. I've seen some be overtaken by the following, start before they reach the start line...
  25. I think it would be quite possible to run normal club racing at 1+, at 2M there just wouldn't be enough room in places even for limited racing. You could say the same with pleasure motor boating, don't go out yet, you are passing others to get there, you are mooring up at places others do, many will want to go to pubs all of which say they can't operate at 2M. Whilst the pub may require 1+ those using them are doing so for leisure should they be stopped?
