    My Day

Donny 1 Rothy 1....not so insignificant... Today I was 2/3 of the way towards either of them, at Spalding, that is at Spalding Model Railway Club's annual exhibition. I enjoyed this show, it was better than last year's, much excellent modelling. At 11:00 it all came to a halt, as we stood for the 2 minutes Silence. The military layouts displayed poppy's as did many others... We will remember them.
  2. It must be crowded down on Horsey beach as some were swimming a few feet off Eccles beach the other day..

    My Day

Oh yes, I'm sat in my lab at 23C+-0.5C waiting for my next value to settle...
  4. Now what would be the broads tax on that? BA would have fun with that one, is it a permanent structure or not? Does it require planning permission or Broads tax or both?

    My Day

Yesterday I spent the day on a course for the Fundamentals of Spectrum analysis and Signal analysis... Luckily I didn't get lost by the instructors Some things have changed a bit since the first time I did a course on the subject..... 42 years ago....
  6. The next one is think on the WRAF, of which SWMBO was a member. Some of it was filmed at RAF Boulmer, in Northumberland, but on the equipment that replaced, the equipment we used.... Some of the older equipment shown in the historic films was familiar too, although not the models we used.
  7. Working for an American company it is easy to play such bingo, this morning I've deleted 3 emails without bothering to read them, two are self congratulatory emails from sales about new appointments, the other is also from sales about a business"win" as they put it. The Dibert cartoons have a new meaning and importance once you have worked for a yank company. We also get emails fom the head office telling everyone in the company that we have a "must attend" briefing in the USA somewhere. the head offices just don't think when they send such carp out to all. We are now coming up to annual assessment Season, now mostly computerised of course, it has sections where you fill in what you feel about your year, complete with drop down texts to copy and paste.... When they introduced it, they had to have training courses on how to answers the questions because they are written in American HR speak using invented words by an obsure American professor in the 1960s. As some one near the bottom of the pile, I have to answer on My "leadership anchors" and "personal anchors" such carp expressions are stupid since if you at anchor you are not moving ... and they want you to advance. with only 6 year left to retirement I'm going nowhere and 99% of the company isn't moving anywhere either. They then have vidoes / power point poisoning on how to do the assessments. But the examples they give are for people with $20,000 000 budgets, so that rules out everyone in this factory... I could go on but that would be as boring as the carp they put out...

  13. King line have a nice electric day boat, which I have used to take elderly relatives out on. https://www.norfolkbroads.com/link/king-line-dayboats-1228/ There are several classes of sailing boat built for disabled use, and the International 2.4 class allows the diabled to compete on equal terms with the able bodied.

  16. street light ? whats one of those? A friend came out of hospital in Saudi having been visiting someone and imediately fell down a drain hole, the theft of drain covers out there is quite common. He then returned to the hospital with a broken leg.....
  17. Actually we did export November the 5th to America, But the when those traitors over there revolted it became somewhat less popular. It then become known as "Pope night" in the USA, and is still known in some areas. However it is being frowned upon as being "religionist".
  18. That was Horning SC's end of Season Regatta, that they passed through. But fear Not, it's Snowflake Sailing Club, who Hire Hornings Base, that will occupy the river most Sundays for the next six months (Not Christmas Eve But they will be on the river on Boxing day.) The Sailing Programme here http://www.sfsc.co.uk/Sailprog.htm Nice pictures and story...
  19. At Horning sailing club the river was only 6 inches below the quay heading at low tide today. So I would expect it to to the quay at high tide.
  20. On the broads A berth is where you park yourself, not a boat, A boat goes in a mooring. If you have leasehold you don't own the mooring, you are effectively renting the mooring for a period. The water belongs to no one, in the Broads area the BA have the right to charge you for being in their area with a boat. EA generally on the broads just control the right to dangle a worm in the water. Anglian water only supply water from the taps....
  21. November 1983 so almost 34 years 16 of those in Norfolk....
  22. The Nissan Warrior type vehicle that caused me to brake heavily this morning then set off at a silly speed with trailer then got stuck behind a big van... The jogger in Coltishall with the the light on his head at 06:15 this morning who then turned his head to look at me with the bright LED shining in my eyes... Pedestrians who to indicate where they are with LED torches and point them at the cars as they drive down the lanes, thereby blinding the driver....
  23. Welcome to the site, enjoy your holiday, just remember all the complaints on here(and other forums) are because generally something unusual has happend not Normal...
  24. The rod Licence goes to the EA not the BA, although I believe the EA does some of the work around the Broads. Trying to get the Money out of the RSPB, for the maintenance of the broads might be more dificult. Ah.... do they pay council tax on their lands?
  25. on a model railway forum I belong to, the automatic net nanny would have changed that to "being within a gnat's large chicken". This is awkward when describing a locomotive on the LNER with it's official name being Large Chicken O' the North https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class_P2
