  1. The vast majority of the time there is no sound output at all so hopefully should prevent any damage to the radio, I did find a couple of radios with bluetooth function but they were stupidly expensive. Next question is how do I manipulate the audio signal to make the scouser on the radio at gt.yarmouth understandable? Are babel fish available?
  2. I hope it didn't have the annoyingly quiet low voiced narrator that Guy Martins progs seem to use, why they chose someone that can barely be heard by lots of people is beyond me.
  3. Thanks for the input and assistance chaps, this little beastie may well be what I'm looking for: Line converter Cheap enough to give it a go and see what goes bang.....
  4. All I can get from standard horizon is the 4.5w 4 ohm figure, the settings in the menu is just to turn off the internal speaker, the standard horizon ext speakers are not amplified just passive so I assume it's quite a high level output.
  5. Radio is a standard horizon GX1500E, more than that I don't know, specs says audio power 4.5W 4 ohm and that's it, I may be able to get more info from standard horizon as their service bunch are very good. I've seen a few examples online but mostly for much higher speaker levels than a vhf external jobbie.
  6. One for the geeks and audiophiles, I get very lost on speaker impedances and db's. I want to take the external speaker output on my vhf radio to a bluetooth transmitter for streaming to hearing aids but assume it will overload the transmitter fed direct, how do I work out what resistances to use to cut the signal? I believe the output is 4.5w max and 4 ohm and assume the transmitter will need line level in, any ideas?
  7. Nothing to do with taste, he was just warning the others to keep going....
  8. Should have changed it to read "Broads National Porky".
  9. My evenings in the pub are always fully risk assessed beforehand and I go in the safe knowledge that IT WILL GO WRONG! Safeguarding is when the landlord/landlady says "no mate you've had enough already".
  10. Maybe better with something like National Association of Zooilogical Interests, hmmm no maybe not.....
  11. Isn't the cultural heritage that of a huge brownfield industrial site, open cast mining as some would call it, surely all this wildlife is getting in the way of the broadland heritage and should be outlawed. Now how about a huge visitor centre at acle dedicated to open cast peat diggings and the invading carr woodland that messed up some of the navigable passages that made it less viable? As nature goes I'm pretty sure the human race is part of it seeing as we evolved along with the rest of it, to be fair we've done better than most of it so I'd say we are more natural going by darwins rules.
  12. Is that a genuine national parks website? I thought that was nationalparksengland.org.uk do the BA have their own fake news version?
  13. At the original £1 price I'm tempted as I'm getting low on firewood........
  14. If hot water is up on the list get the calorifier and I'm sure your vid showed a brief glimps of a blanking bolt on the back of the head behind the fuel filter and that block drain would make a good initial first connection, both without disturbing a coolant hose, what's not to try, a couple of bsp hose tails are cheap and never go amiss in the emergency bits stash if they are not needed.(I have all sorts of fittings in my stash, let me know threads and I probably have spares) Whatever the connections there WILL be a way of connecting the engine to a calorifier so what's not to like about hot water?
  15. Starting in january I'm doing dry thursday lunchtime, just the one though, gotta start small.
  16. For a quick screenshot on windows just hit "print screen" button on keyboard and open something like mspaint and "paste", the whole screen will appear as an image, select the bit you want and "crop" to cut out the rest and "save as" whatever you like, then you can upload the piccie to the forum the usual way. Resizing may help too it it's a full page screenshot. I would hope no posts of mine are appearing on faceache otherwise I'm off.......
  17. There is a project 31 (similar hull) at rockland that may be worth talking to the owner about a look at, it has an md 32 volvo on a V drive so single shaft, I don't think it's for sale but worth a look at the setup. It used to be called sundowner but not sure what it's called now, it also had the screen changed to be able to fold down and pass every bridge. My old RLM31 had twin enfields and could stern moor as the bathing platform overhung them, it could also dry out with no problems by lifting the legs which was good on some of the east coast harbours.
  18. To convert to single outdrive wouldn't be that hard (mostly grp work) and you would have a full set of spares, what type of outdrive? They are not all bad and give good manouverability. Every boat is a list of prioritised comprimises so why not consider the outdrive?
  19. With the water levels on the 22nd I think he is now looking for closure rather than a dog, sad but realistic but at least he realises it. Shot off around the marshes....
  20. Not mine but he's a sweetie pie. Call Andy or the ferryhouse with any sightings.
  21. Not mine, they went for incineration (probably with the other clinical waste from the vet although they'd never tell you that) and I'm quite fine with that, I miss em all dearly and was absulutely gutted when the time came but once gone they're gone, you still have the memories and no rainbow bridge stuff is going to change that. Sorry if that sounds a bit blunt but I'm a realist. Sorry to hear of your loss of Poppy.
  22. A tr with the proper engine then, wouldn't fancy working on it in situ though. the thing with the connections close together is that if the engine temp drops the stats shut and the calorifier get the heat, theres no point paying out diesel to heat a river, stats don't close the circuit they just open an easier circuit, some will still go the other way.
  23. Fit your calorifier and get hoses 1.5 metres longer than you expect to need and just try any high & low tapping on the block/head and see how it runs watching the temp gauge and checking the domestic water temp as you go, if it seems ok and doesn't take an age for the engine to warm up leave it else change it and try something different, bsp hosetails are not expensive as long as you are not chopping into hoses each time. There's probably no two plumbed the same out there anyway, at least your domestic plumbing will be done and you will have hot water when plugged in via immersion even if it takes a while to get engine connected spot on. The yellow circle shows how close mine are apart (that's the thermostat housing, one each side of stats), the hose is to stop the coolant peeing out while they were out. This setup gives me hotish water within 20 mins of a cold start at river speeds (1000-1200rpm) and both engines warm up fairly close together. This is when I had to take them out to replace the fuel tanks, never again I hope. I now have the same take offs on the other engine plumbed to a heater matrix blowing under the cabin steps via a bilge blower fan, makes life a bit more comfortable for the slightly chill days that are not quite worth firing up the eberspacher for, this works ok too.
