  1. The thermo valve are very useful if you are likely to have youngsters on board and even with knowledgable adults they tend to make your hot water go further as it's easy to use way too hot then add lots of cold till it's useable. I recon you'd be hard pushed to find a haynes manual for that engine, even then haynes are known for a good few cockups. How about asking these people? https://www.thornycroftengines.com/contact They must have all sorts of old info lurking somewhere or the old guy in the workshop that will tell you straight from the top of his head.
  2. Wrap it some self adhesive expanded neoprene, cheap as chips on fleabay.
  3. The standard take offs on my volvo's are only a couple of inches apart and effectively bypass the thermostats and it warms the water quickly enough, it means the engine with the calofier connected warms slower but not much slower. On my old boat I took one feed from a drilling in the head and one from the bottom of the block and worked just as well, probably slightly better but that had both engines feeding the calorifier (twin coil calorifier not linked engines), this setup also effectively bypassed the thermostat. If any hoses dip down then up you will need a way to get the air out unless you are very lucky, once bled it should work fine. Remember convection can also take heat from the calorifier back to the engine block when on an immersion heater.
  4. If anyone wants to visit they will be disappointed as I'm a miserable git anyway..... And gps is not that accurate sat inside a house, can easily be half a postcode out, not saying if it is or not though.....
  5. MMtracker screenshot. Not broads map obviously as I'm at home. All without any data needed.
  6. Or MMtracker, it's an obsolete app now but I have the APK file for installation and the broads os explorer map to load into it, the map is out of date roads wise but the broads have not moved. There's no more updates as memory-map insisted it was abandoned (by threat of courts) as it used their old chart format and mostly pirated maps, I have the files if anyone wants them.
  7. Ah the day of bike rallies, get all the gear stowed, get the tent strapped to the bike, now where is the ignition key? Oh yes in that little pocket in the back of the tent!!!!!! (for safe keeping of course) Many a sodding time! Dome tents fly well, at one rally we had decided the tent had finally seen it's last days and no longer could we tape little chef cutlery to broken poles and gaffer tape over the splits in the flysheet so on sunday morning we cleared our stuff out, pulled the pegs and tied one guy rope to the sissy bar on my bike, rode round to the remains of the bonfire while the tent floated geacefully behind me and it just landed gently slap bang in the middle of the fire, untied guy rope and rode back to the pile of gear we were taking home. Then went tent shopping.....
  8. And you can't say you've been on a "green" walking holiday can you, but I bet a lot do.
  9. They will click louder with an air bubble in them if not at the right angle.
  10. That'll make for an interesting breydon crossing on a windy day.
  11. He's more lucky the police didn't shoot him as he got out, bet they would in london at the moment.
  12. I'm relatively tech savvy but that took me while to work out with my first smartphone, they expect everyone to be in contacts... I need a new twatphone....
  13. Be warned, as soon as you mutter the words "ok google" to your phone in a pub someone like me always has the temptation to sneak up behind and say something very wrong like "goat porn" just to see what it comes up with...... It leaves an interesting search history too.
  14. He's trying to entice a welshman.......
  15. Nah, get the top level managers to do the crossings, they have sod all else they can do.
  16. You're not alone thinking that, I thought it slightly less politely so didn't post it.
  17. Can't take any credit, suffolk gazette, where else.
  18. I've known people that worked for amazon and as far as I'm concerned their vhf callsign is Go Away, fleabay I use through sheer convenience and laziness but I take the reviews with a huge pinch of salt. BUT you have to compare any prices before buying as often normal shops are as cheap, don't get stung by lazyness!
  19. I'd have thought anything with the right thread (or an adaptor) that is long enough should do the job. Are they directly in the combustion chamber on the bmc's or do they have a swirl chamber?
  20. At least if you have an engine problem those dogs will tow you home, just got to keep them to the speed limits though....
  21. Being a tidal river if the fish stocks can't take a salt influx they can't be the natural fish for the river surely??? If a polar bear can't take the cold it's probably just a bleached bear not a polar bear.
  22. Dig the bridge up and put it on a raft so it can float up and down with the tides, just needs a sliding ramp for traffic.
