  1. Are you going to use the boat at sea? If so you can fit a diverter valve along with a tank, a regular sea toilet will work the same with a tank and there's less to go wrong than the electric bogs.
  2. Wait till the weather turns first, a seized turbo won't affect you at river speeds. Winter is long enough without disabling the boat in good weather.
  3. Part of that is to let the turbo spool down before losing the oil feed, I always try to drop the rpm in stages on my twin TMD41's after a fast run otherwise the oil pressure drops too quickly and the alarm buzzer starts buzzing, always best to let the oil warm up before throttling up as well. I think VP do a repair kit for a lot of their turbos that is the centre section less snail shells but not cheap. I doubt the turbos spin up at all at broads speeds, could just be carbon build up in the turbine side, maybe worth taking the housing off for a peek (gaskets not cheap though).
  4. Tescos, probably lasagne or similar.....
  5. It'll fill up soon, it's tidal you know.
  6. Ye Olde Sun, st.neots, or as I usually call it Ye Olde Grump & farter. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g499501-d8484541-Reviews-Ye_Olde_Sun-St_Neots_Cambridgeshire_England.html I'm thinking of getting the poor and terrible reports printed on a tee shirt for the landlord.
  7. One of my locals isn't in the guide these days mainly as he won't do camra discount, his usual reply is " No mate, I don't discriminate against normal people" but his prices are cheap anyway, it's a proper pub with no grub and not a hint of political correctness to be seen, he has some pretty bad trip advisor reports, but it's usually busy with people that the the pee out of the landlord while drinking lots. You can always tell when a group of camra members come in as they usually nurse a half for a hour or so and annoy the proper drinkers. (normal camra members are also available)
  8. Yarmouth on the Yar or Gt.Yarmouth on the Yare? I'd expect Yarmouth to be on a tide app being a ferry port.
  9. Back on subject.......ish...... Why are you putting another tired old 1500 bmc diesel back in? I know a guy with just the thing for the the job, it's a big block chevvy of approx. 8.5l with I beam rods, forged pistons, twin spark heads, currently fuel injected but going back to 4 barrel holley and chucking out 500HP, you'd never have to worry about pushing a tide over breydon again, there's even a 2:1 reduction gearbox with it (but no neutral or reverse option). Perfect! What could possibly go wrong?
  10. How about gorleston? That's the one I use from VisitMyHarbour.com
  11. Don't listen to them, it's lovely up there! It's the south that is dangerous.....
  12. Sorry Trev but don't think it was ever an MTB, there was something near it that resembled one but don't think it was, to be fair I wouldn't really know either way as I'm not that clued up on these old beasts.
  13. Don't fancy fuel and maintenance costs though, it's bad enough buying two of everything.
  14. Yes it was a sealine, no idea what lumps are attached to those drives but I bet it's fun.
  15. Well done that man! Now lurking as a cafe outside woodbridge on the deben upstream of the tidemill.
  16. No MTB's involved, think Norwich, but not in Norwich.
  17. Spot the well known broads landmark.
  18. Deal with it! Being duoprop drives this one has 6!
  19. Easiest way to check for air leaks is to run at idle and spray wd40 or brake cleaner round the carb and Inlet manifold, if rpm picks up you have an air leak.
  20. You may see mine during the next week as we are thinking on going into burnham on crouch for a night or two, look out for a 30DS called Snowbird, I can get down to 8'8" within a couple of minutes by folding my radar arch and vhf's down but I don't find the 30DS the most spacious in the cabin. You do see a blue haze behind many of the sea goers on the broads at river speeds but it generally clears as soon as the throttles are opened properly.
  21. Well that's me proved well and truly wrong then...... How about going for something smaller that can still do the salty stuff and get under the bridges when needed for the best of both worlds, my 30DS with twin 150hp's does pretty well and still gets under most of the bridges (except PH,wroxham, wayford, beccles old) which leaves plenty of inland cruising for when the weather is bad but will cruise at a comfy 16knots when the wind is kind, southwold is only 1.25 hours from yarmouth mouth, and 4.5 hours will get you from southwold to ramsgate, 3.5 hours to wells. Salty sea dog and ditch crawling all in one package.
