  1. Richard at Johnsons is good if you are near st.olaves, or call Andy at freedom if near norwich, it's not like you are after a big job.
  2. I take that back about the rotation, it seems although rare they were made.
  3. We renewed our passports back in 2015, the only reason was that we saw a boat we fancied in France, bought a different boat and still not been out of the country since 1999, I'm starting to feel American but not fat enough....
  4. And one of the good bits about having a boat of 30' or less is you can usually get a private pontoon mooring at southwold, privacy and cheaper. Good luck with your sale.
  5. Contra rotation is virtually always done on the gearbox, I don't believe there was ever an opposite rotation option with a perkins. Every gearbox has a reverse option anyway and the engine would have to have many different parts to run the other way so not an economical way to do it (unless 2 stroke). Light aircraft use opposite rotation engines but that is because most have the prop direct to the crankshaft. More likely a starter that spins the other way.
  6. To run like that for a short while to get round a problem is sort of understandable but to present it like that for sale would have to be very cheap to even consider it, makes you wonder what the engines are like inside. Have you heard it run or had a trip on it underway?
  7. Just the crud in the bottom makes me think walk away, that's the sort of crud that makes a boat stink throughout of oil/diesel and hard to get rid of once it gets into upholstery.
  8. Voltage sensing relays seem to be the item of choice these days as you get very little volt drop.
  9. That's usually the idea of a 1-2-both switch.
  10. I'd change it so you have a dedicated starter battery, at least then you can always get it running.
  11. Yep been there and done that.......
  12. As devils advocate I have to say I've just sold my yamaha fazer thou and the guy that bought it had one before and had both a vfr800 and triumph strint 1050 to replace it and reconed they were both complete cr@p in comparison, I've never had such a keen buyer for a bike before so would probably now never even think triumph. I have bought a yamaha TDM850 and absolutely love it, a real b road blaster, any hint of patriotism now gone. Back in the day is the trouble, the world moves on and they didn't, I seem to recall the dinosaurs did quite well but you don't see many now. (other than at the wooden boat show)
  13. More likely because they piddled all over the harleys, the whole chop scene started because the only way the harleys could get near the brit stuff was to strip them down as much as possible to lose weight, then along came the japs and piddled over them all without the need for drip trays.
  14. Is the engine biodegradable as well now?
  15. Make the most of it, the weekend is looking to be blowing a hoolie.
  16. What's a 'dailie'? Is it a new type of sail boat that turns into a proper boat at night?
  17. How would it fare on breydon against a running spring tide?
  18. There's a certain element of selfishness with so called zero emission cars (mostly through ignorance not genuine selfishness), it's more a case of zero emissions where I am and sod the poor bu55ers that live by the power station (yes I know there's a lot of wind power but not enough). Same as the BS of carbon neutral companies, just because you've paid for a certificate that promises to not cut down a forest doesn't mean they are not pumping out crud for us all to breathe. My boat is an absolute stinkpot but at least I have to put up with it as much as everyone else. Even walking pumps out more co2 than standing still so how can any vehicle ever be zero emission!
  19. Find an easier garage or more jerry cans and go via a few different garages, keep the others covered. I transport a lot of fuel for the boat (admittedly diesel) and have about 10x 20 litre jerry cans bought off ebay as a pallet load, I got them at £7.50 each but that was few years ago now, just needed to replace the seals. We transport avgas for work and have 2x 150 litre tanks we made with fia approved bladders and tried to get info about transport rules and all we got was "check with your insurers" so I don't know what are rules and what are nothing more than guidelines.
  20. And there was me thinking "blimey Santa's let himself go!".....
  21. I thought that first but the number of boats moored threw me.
  22. Looks to be the same one from a different angle, if only it could happen under PH bridge (unmanned of course).
  23. I'm sure it was a greenline I saw a video of on fire on the ybw forums a while back, the superstructure went about 30metres upwards when the battery bank popped if I recall correctly, scary to watch to say the least.
