  1. He'll be the strange looking short one after ten o'clock if he hasn't changed.
  2. Reedham ferry has always been way too early if open at all, Pete is probably still drinking in the ship, if he is tell him Dave & Alison say hi.
  3. Most of the benefits of bio-fuel are probably offset by the people changing their tyres for winter, do normal people do that any more? (said the bloke in one of the flattest counties).
  4. I found it far more entertaining sitting in the pub doing quality control checks on the beer (repeatedly) in a mindset of not giving a [insert word here] than actually bothering to watch it.
  5. Check out the ship at reedham, Maria & Richard have been doing a good job of making it a pub again (that is actually open in normal times) and well worthy of support. I've even heard good things about steak pie which is a long time coming after Pete's legendary offerings. As a disclaimer we've not been there since summer due to circumstances.
  6. I hope you realise it's a legal requirement for a rosy lee's brekkie when in loddon, she will deliver to your boat too but if the weather is kind she has a garden beside the staithe car park hidden away. Can't remember what days she's shut though.
  7. The swan is quite good on beer prices these days but the food looked a bit fancy for my simple tastes, I like pub grub. I've only made it in the angel once (a few years ago) and it was like a creche at the time so we didn't last long as I'm allergic to screaming brats.
  8. The first question for any fact has to be "what is the source?" only then can a decision be made around how acurate the fact is, and then it's usually an educated guess at best. I doubt even the customs guys know the true numbers as they only know the ones caught, they too can only guess at the numbers in an empty washed up raft.
  9. You went for the slimline option then.
  10. Sounds like Patrick moore, a mere amateur astronomer but a proffesional musician, unlike Brian May who is the opposite. It's a qualification thing apparently.
  11. That's age not cold. (or the bang on the head still lingering)
  12. Not just limited to lifeboats and coastguard of course, it's the obligation for everyone at sea (if able) to assist when a distress is spotted or received, even if only involves keeping an ear to the radio in case you can be of help.
  13. I'd just use the transporter to beam the boat over PH bridge. Or wait a few years and go out through GY and back in at horsey...
  14. The hard bit is finding a nice bit of des o'connor.
  15. Don't forget the hoof clamping sign for the driveway, you could make a mint in release fees. Anyway I'm pretty sure that ghost at Acle bridge was Norfolk Nog trying to blag a free beer.
  16. I'm still hanging out for warp drive to become a reality, or a 'back to the future' style flux capacitor so you could leave the pub at closing time and be back in time for the previous opening time.
  17. Yuk! Can't do citrus beers. Blackshore however, now there's a moreish pint mmmmmm... I got a right liking for chewy stouts these days.
  18. Independant lifeboats. Check the link above, I embeded this one the front page of my website when covid stuffed all the fundraisers.
  19. If I get one I will try it, I'll even tell them what I died of if they ask. Well you have to don't you.
  20. Thalidomide was also a wonder drug once.... I wonder how those that refused it feel now, quite chuffed I would guess. Admittedly it was shown to be a very good drug for those not pregnant but it still messed up lots of people, I'm all for the vax and have had 3 doses but would still be against compulsory jabs, more restriction for the idiots I have no problem with whatsoever.
  21. Tell them to leave something lying athwartships and watch them scratch their heads. We've 'moored' the car somewhere many times.
  22. Princess 30ds, with radar arch folded it needs 8'8", with canopy down arch drops in about a minute so no hassle.
  23. There's some nice spots around the east coast as long as you time things properly, lack of depth over bars is the main issue. 2019's range for us was wells/southwold/woodbridge/waldringfield/ramsholt/shotley/bradwell on sea/burnham on crouch/ramsgate/dover, and not a sniff of the northern broads, history along the way was dover castle & tunnels/ramsgate tunnels/languard fort, absolutely fantastic and so chuffed we did it all before covid hit. You would never moan about a broads fuel bill again though, roll on 2022 season. And it's only a 30' boat, doesn't take a gin palace to do it.
  24. There's not much food wise that will make my Tina ill, only the lack of it makes her grumpy. Probably a different story with pedigree dogs. A car and roundabouts is another matter, always a messy affair but I guess after doing a 17 hour trip in a cage in the back of a van from romania she has a right to get iffy travelling, yet a pouncy trip out of yarmouth doesn't seem to bother her. Also remember thing like chocolate and onions (and related veg) are actually poisonous for dogs so keep the after dinner munchies for yourselves.
  25. Not convinced about the length of pipework as the water under is doing the moving where in the ground the water in the pipe has to move to warmer ground, still needs leccy for sure but less than an immersion.
