  1. That's the trouble with human nature! When there is an injury or fatality on the broads, the forums seem to go in to overdrive! I sometimes feel people love to talk about the bad things that happen on the broads compared to the good things!
  2. You do realise, that it is presumed the millions of old one pound coins that hasn't been given to the banks to be exchanged for the new coin resides. I hope you find your fortune
  3. Are these alarms a bit of an overkill for a drain on a battery, small that it is and for a model boat?

    Hooked Cygnet..

You just confirmed what I said ?????????????

    Hooked Cygnet..

Its not rocket science, when there are swans or ducks near my fishing tackle, I real it in till they are gone. But for some simpletons, they just don't understand.
  6. Sorry Double M, but I think you have gone over to the dark side with this way of thinking and have looked far too much into it.
  7. Now I do understand that speed limits are there to protect the river banks because of wash, but a hovercraft can break the speed limit associated with some rivers and cause much less wash than boats. Now if I am correct in saying that the rivers have boats of planning hulls to the flat bottom hulls concerning the hire industry. So please correct me if I am wrong, a planning hull causes more wash than your flat bottom hull type and the bigger the boat, the slower they should go?
  8. Does this type of boat really exist on the broads?
  9. If I am not mistaken, speed cameras work on contact and measure a fixed distance, this way speed can be calculated. If it works on the roads, the same can be done on the rivers. Wash will never come into it as it always depends on the hull if my memory serves me right.
  10. Just the same as film critics, I take no notice of them whatsoever. There has been a few films that have been slated by these so called experts and personally I have really enjoyed them.
  11. This is where I believe why possibly alot of offenders get away with speeding on the broads, as people would think is it worth the bother as no one got injured. Perhaps BA could invest in cameras in the hot spots, as they are getting much more affordable and technologically advanced .
  12. I have piloted a Cessna single prop, so a 747 would be like a walk in the park.
  13. I worked my way up from a small hire boat to the larger type. Unfortunately you will have those that want to make a statement on their first hire boat with a large cruiser and will not have a clue what to do and how to handle it.
  14. Personally I find it intriguing, when you see members that have been on here for a few years and while looking through an old thread that have made many a contribution, then simply disappeared.
  15. Unless I have missed a post here I am sorry, but if you purchase a female dog and you are going to call her Purdey, you have to get a male and call him Gambit? Or Steed?
  16. If it means anything on this thread for the BBC license fee, but I like to watch Escape to the Country. So when I watch episodes that are a few years old, I am appalled that I am paying for episodes that I payed for a few years ago.
  17. Well for me I'm old school. If someone says to me "Did you enjoy your holiday on the Broads National Park" I will simply say "Don't you mean the Norfolk Broads"!
  18. It's strange how we as living beings can get so attached to cars, boats and planes that we treat them like living objects. So when we see them being crushed, sunk or scrapped, you can feel a bit sorry to see them in this way.
  19. It's a common thing where money is spent on surveyors, architects and planning, but the work never starts because there is not enough money left in the kitty!
  20. And I have worked with English people who wouldn't know where to start when it comes to a traditional Sunday roast.
  21. I do like fishing on the broads and when I'm tiddler bashing which takes me back to my teens, I sometimes think it would be nice to catch a carp. I understand they are few and far between in the broads but you can catch them in canals, so I have wondered why it's not a regular fish to catch on the north side of the broads.
  22. Legal wise I think it's easier to get rid of one of these free loaders who think they can moor anywhere they want, for however length of time just by having a "No Mooring" sign. Otherwise it's like having squatters.
  23. Also I assume that if you have any open wounds, even if they are small cuts and because of the chance of infection can be at a high swimming in the broads, do people need to be aware of this?
