  1. This could have been stopped with the flood barrier at Yarmouth if we know we are in for higher tides then it could have been closed to stop the salt water from pushing up. This would also help some of the people that would like to get under ph bridge as this would keep the water level more stable. Im not saying always have the barrier closed because of silting up rivers but if a barrier was built it would protect the eco system of the broads until the sea comes in over horsey but hopefully that’s a whole away ?
  2. This is such a shame ! If only the Yarmouth tide barrier had been built when first proposed then we could have protected our beloved broads and fresh water creatures from the salt water
  3. Hi Andy I think that’s too much speculation for the forum 🤣 a good idea though !
  4. I had a post taken down for a throw away comment about parliament which was my opinion and I didn’t think it would offend anybody in a way it was funny ( or I thought so) so I’ve realised it’s best not to have a sense of humour on here as some people may not have a sense of humour or see it that the way I meant it to be I guess it’s hard to understand that on a forum I’m also am starting to think we are not allowed to voice our opinions too by reading some members comments Roy
  5. Hi Kate yes you are right regarding the tides when the wind is in the north it pushes the sea in to Yarmouth and stops the falling tide from leaving also the low pressure makes a difference too. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time on board and the weather improves. Roy
  6. Such a shame the Janet’s are a lovely broads cruiser
  7. Hi I was on land today in the riverside park as no boat yet I’m still looking. I’m sorry to hear your friend is suffering from sea sickness my dad had a friend that could not even sit on his boat without feeling sea sick. The rivers looked noticeably quieter today than they had been. Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay and hope the weather keeps fair Roy
  8. Hi kate I saw you today in wroxham but I didn’t speak as you had company hope you are having a good time Roy

    Paradise ?

Why can’t the BA put some floating pontoons about 2 feet away from the old keyheading ? Then if lease is ever revoked they can move them off the quiet moorings simple
  10. Roy

    Paradise ?

That will never happen unfortunately the site is war marked for building surprise surprise and also people will say about the wildlife above potter is more diverse because the bridge stops lots of boats. Min a ideal world I would like to see a navigation cut round the bridge
  11. I’m sorry you were treated like this but I must say I won’t be going there anymore if people can’t treat people with respect then they don’t get my custom !! Never understood why people would hire a day boat and leave it tied up at a pub all day which is easy to get to in a car 🤣
  12. The grey bottom broom admiral looks sinister in that colour. Is it a live aboard?
  13. Yes I guess that’s right I think I was concerned about water getting in to the lining from the windows but reading a lot about these boats they seem to be built well.
  14. Thanks that really helps I’m looking at one on another waterway and just needed to get my finances sorted first. Do they have any common problems to look out for when I’m viewing ? Thanks agsin
  15. Hi I am looking for information on boat running costs for a Hampton Safari ie broads toll/ insurance costs. Also looking for a mooring on the northern broads ideally a garden mooring at someone’s house any ideas please thanks
  16. I think pubs should at lest discount their moorings if you are willing to spend money at the establishment. i can see why maybe they have changed to charge for moorings regardless wether people eat in the pub or not as it’s the electric and gas prices must be affecting the whole industry and as usual we are the ones paying for it. When is the government going to actually confront these company’s Roy
  17. Hi and welcome to the forum and well done on your approach to owning a woodie I’d love one but know I don’t have the skills. I would say regarding the water in the bilge is normal even fibreglass boats have water in the bilges. But I may be wrong as I don’t know nipper that well I have admired her many a time though. Happy boating

    360 Pano’s

Thank you very much mouldy it was me that asked for the 360 i cant believe how much it’s changed in 25 years there are hardly any trees along there now compared to how it used to be and Brundall bay has doubled in size. Thank you so much Roy
  19. Thanks I’ll certainly keep my eye out enjoy your next adventure im already looking forward to reading it Roy
  20. Thanks again for your blogs love reading your adventures you’ve definitely made me decide to own a boat next year hopefully ! I’m now looking ideally for a Hampton safari I’ve always wanted one of those. Potter bridge the main arch is actually a circle I think someone told me the triangles at the sides are to do with tide flow/ decoration. Ive also been told the bridge stops a lot of water from flowing back out again don’t know if this is true?
  21. Hope Graham’s back is feeling better. Is tabitha rose the last surviving star light ? I ask as my grandparents had their honeymoon on a star light in the 50s don’t know which one or any more details as they’ve are not here to ask any more details. Think I can remember Tabitha being moored in the corner of Oulton b near the slipway and the park many years ago ?
  22. Hi Your parents Aquafibre 42 is famous for its travels.
