  1. Last day! Try December John, its brill. The Little Sharpie and bacon rolls sound very tempting, will hopefully be checking them out soon........
  2. Hi Andy I suspect that Hoseasons just haven’t caught up on their website yet. As far as I know affiliated yards are not allowed to hire un-registered boats so to speak – I’m sure it will be in the new brochure. Looks a good boat – I’m sure it will be a cracker!
  3. I’ve been on the phone with Swancraft today. Friendly and helpful as always and after some discussion we have settled on booking Swan Reflection for next year. Its one of the recent new builds so I’ll be look forward to trying it out. Sadly our favourite Swan Royale is being retired at the end of this season so I’ve bought a couple of extra lottery tickets today. Swancraft are also fitting a multi antennae wi-fi unit to their boats so I’m hoping for an advance trial in December – I’ll report back on this. It’s worth booking at the moment as Hoseasons have some good offers on and I only had to stump up £50 deposit so it’s worth booking early. Also helps to get the boat you want too. Apparently the new Hoseasons brochure is due out on 9th November so that will be worth looking out for. Its going to be interesting this year as apparently it will have a premium or ‘platinum’ type section. Look forward to reading it.
  4. Sounds great, just wish I could be there Hope you have a fantastic weekend!!
  5. Judging by the sloping grass area, i would go for Salhouse.......
  6. Hi Kerri A warm welcome to the Forum from me too. Many thanks for the update, I will look forward to calling in but sadly probably not until December now. As an ale fan I’m very pleased to see that you are selling a good selection of beers as well as the usual Woodfordes. I am a big Humpty Dumpty fan as well as Wolf and Uncle Stuarts I don’t know if you have considered Tipples? but they are just up at Acle, so not far away. Fine beer too. Good to see you selling real cider as well. I’m sure that it will be very popular, it certainly will be with my better half!! Hope things go really well for you which I’m sure they will. All the best
  7. Right, done it. When you get into the site it all seems pretty secure so I've donated online. Like Carol, I felt so sad about this so had to do something. Please contribute if you can. Many thanks
  8. Hi Carol Thanks for that, sounds like it should be secure, so I'll give it a go and report back!
  9. I think this is the boy? It was on hire when we took Fine Time out a couple of years back. I believe that the hirers reversed into the bank at Coltishall and did a fair bit of damage to the transmission.
  10. Hi Carol How sad and what a very worthy cause. I would like to donate but having a quick look it seems you have to give both your address and credit card details which I am a bit windy about - is there any way you can donate via Paypal do you know?
  11. Hi Jill Looks like the Bridge Inn at Acle?
  12. Nice one John, any more installments please?
  13. Very enjoyable tale Bob, thanks for sharing with us. Sorry to hear about the near miss but i'm sure the Adnams helped steady the nerves!
  14. If they are a bit shy about quoting specific prices they might be open to negotiation,
  15. Hi City Boats have operated tour boats for many years but have recently extended into the hire boat market too. http://www.cityboats.co.uk/broads-holiday-cruisers.html They look to have taken over three of the boats previously operated by DRL which were on a lease from presumably the original owners, Sabena. I don’t know if City Boats have bought them or are leasing them as DRL did. We hired Caprice several times from DRL (then known as Fine Time). The boat had its quirks and certainly needed some updating but was comfortable and met our needs for the price. I think it unlikely that City Boats will have done any major works to them but given that the prices quoted look very reasonable they may well represent good value for the money. Good luck and please let us know how you get on!!
  16. Hi Bob I can see where you are coming from but no, I am familiar with the White Horse at Upton, in fact I was in there a few weeks ago. Another very fine pub. Another Forum member did very kindly pass on some information to me about the White Horse at Neatishead. I also had anecdotal accounts from other sources that some locals were planning to buy it but this latter information may have proved incorrect or the offer may have lapsed. Any further updates would be much appreciated.
  17. Hi I was under the impression that a local syndicate were taking over the pub? Let's keep fingers crossed, a fine pub indeed and one of the most unspoilt interiors on the Broads
  18. Good idea Clive. I can’t think of too many laundrette facilities near the rivers. There used to be one at Horning Marina which I think has gone now and there used to be a washing machine and tumbler at Oulton Broad Yacht Station, again not sure if they are still there. I'm sure that it will be a very popular facility.
  19. You lucky boy John! Have one for me! Not jealous of course..............
  20. Hi John and John It works!! just clicked on the button as John suggested and hey presto! I'll have a word with Mrs Nog about the Firefox as she's our resident techie Many thanks chaps
  21. To me it will always be the Stracey Arms. I remember it well from the seventies. It was more of a family pub back then, really busy and the moorings were pretty full during the evening. They used to have live bands on too, I always think it would make a good live music venue – no chance of getting complaints from the neighbours!!!
