  1. BBC - Broads Boating Company based at the old Horizon yard at Acle DRL - now defunct hire business formerly based at Ludham Sorry, one should never assume!
  2. Got to agree JM. Given the owner, it's probably not surprising. The ultimate aim could be holiday lets and the oldest trick in the book to try to make out a pub is not viable is by running it down. I agree the New Inn is superb.
  3. Well understandably Do I feel a DRL coming on here? All a bit dejavu
  4. Fine pub indeed They used to have discos too I see to recall
  5. I can think of several examples Trevor but not to name names!
  6. That's sadly been the case the case with quite a few boatyards too
  7. Been in most of them bar the Anchor and London Tavern. . Station at Colitshall had some interesting characters. Don't forget the railway at Reedham, that was a fine pub. Rings a bell....... We seem to have gone off topic again...............(no change there then. Ed)
  8. .....anyway, for anyone interested I would get in quick, they wont hang around!!
  9. Just his little joke PM Agree, we hired from Swancraft for many years and always had friendly and top notch service. If the lottery comes up I'll heading there straight away.
  10. A new mooring for the new season? This could be the one for you. As from 1st April there will be two moorings available at Swancraft for boats up to 29 feet. Cost will be £46 plus VAT per foot. The yard has full facilities with water and electricity available. Also pump outs, diesel, gas and full maintenance facilities are also available if required. It is a working yard with extensive security lighting, CCTV and a large car park. All berth holders are given personal attention and Paul will be happy to give any assistance or advice which may be required. The railway station is only a few minutes walk away, as is the Yare pub. Up in the village there is a full range of shops, cash machine and a Post Office, chemist, hardware store and a further pub, The Ram. For further details contact Paul on 07909 180427 or 01603 712362 Email sales@swancraft.co.uk
  11. The Wherry Fine pub, long gone now. This was taken around 10 years ago after it closed. I remember going in, probably back in the 90's or even earlier. No photos from then sadly.
  12. Don't remind me! I could seriously get used to this winter lark!!!!
  13. Doh! Looks very reasonable prices too considering the facilities.
  14. http://www.pacificcruisers.co.uk/small-boats.html Looks a smart boat. Hydraulic drive. Must have a decent inverter as there is a microwave. Interior photos look good. Compact but ideal for a couple. Can't see the prices though unless I'm missing something.
  15. Yes agree, I understood that was a refit (Capri) where as the Maycraft looks pretty original. There is a difference in higher season (Mermaid) but lower season is more comparable. It's just that Richardsons are usually competitive on older boats so just an observation that the Maycraft one looked good value. Do the do solo hire? Small yards are usually more flexible.
  16. I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one Paul!
  17. I wonder how much it was supported by the locals? The pub gets very little support locally and is not unique in that respect by any means. Great shame.
  18. It looks very reasonably priced. Mermaid from Richardsons is not a huge amount more but of course they wont do solo. You would need a deeper wallet for Glitter Girl from Summercraft though. I'm assuming Maycraft prices are exclusive of fuel which is only 100 quid and they don't mention a damage waiver as far as I can see. It sounds a good bet, traditional and comfortable rather than luxurious but looks good value and should be easily handled too. Please keep us posted!
  19. Err, is this thread about the Golden Galleon or cars? Perhaps someone could clarify. Puzzled of Yorkshire
