  1. Yep, looks like Barton Broad to me. Those posts are to starboard as you head down stream towards Neatishead.
  2. No, its not that Simon but they are kind enough to let us have a boat out of season as did Swancraft when they were hiring. I think we could have any of the fleet within reason as long as they have good notice. We tend to go for Humber Bridge as its a very cosy boat for winter. We've traditionally been out for me and Mrs Nog's birthdays which are in December and February. But by a happy coincidence it's some of the quietest times on the rivers so its a double bonus for us really. Don't get me wrong, Bridgecraft are great and are really helpful with us. It's just a shame that very few yards will get involved with winter hire which could be a missed opportunity.
  3. Nice thought Simon although they are very good hiring to me in December already. Need a lottery win, trouble is we have champagne tastes and lemonade pockets
  4. I've just been browsing Herbert Woods site tentatively thinking about next February. I was a bit miffed that there is no mention of a winter discount this time around. For several years now they have been offering 20 per cent which was a good deal. They had a lot of boats out this year and maybe feel the extra discount isn't needed now. It means effectively that a week next year will cost more than 10 days cost us this year. Might have to get Mrs Nog doing some overtime
  5. I think what you would need is a "River Contractor" They usually do Quay heading, dredging etc Google search maybe? Local press, word of mouth etc Good luck!
  6. On our recent trip we took Mrs Nog's Mi-fi powered by 3 mobile. It worked pretty well over most of the Broads. It always seemed to work best in the front window of the boat. We also take a 4 way plug board with us to charge a phone, tablet and the Mi-fi. As the current draw is very modest it's well within the rating of even the smallest inverter.
  7. Used the bus service from Hoveton to Cromer on Sunday. Run by Sanders. It was actually reasonably quick we thought, bit longer but not unduly so.
  8. Indeed. Spotted at Simpson's yard on Saturday
  9. We also have a good sense of humour fortunately
  10. This is very true! I think perhaps JM was applying a bit of poetic licence! (he is from Suffolk tha knows)
  11. Good man Your boat's OK anyway!
  12. That's good to know Ian, up that direction tomorrow Any Faircraft Loynes boats out did you notice? Could do with a spot in their yard
  13. Hi Trevor Don't know price off hand but I'm sure it would be reasonable. No petrol, can't think of a yard that does sell it, Martham possibly?
  14. That's right, they were digging it up today! Swancraft will do you fuel (plug)
  15. Rise and fall is quite a lot at Beccles - two feet maybe? As long as it's not high tide you should be fine.
  16. It might be that they are booked up for the first few weeks?
  17. I'd certainly give Bridgecraft a big thumbs up Very accommodating
  18. Yes, Herbert Woods would hire next week and Faircraft Loynes if you have deeper pockets!
  19. Ouch!! Going to be better tomorrow by all accounts
  20. Bit lively down Thurne Dyke too!
  21. Not got the calendar to hand but pretty sure March is one mine if it's the flappy thing it's at Cantley outside Reedcutter
