  1. Hi Jon, Good to see you back on the forum, back fully computed up and raring to go. I like the sorting out of the screws but was sad to see they was no brass screws or bronze nails, I guess they are all in boxes and jars like prize possessions Regards Alan
  2. I watched Tom Kerridge the other night with his take on Christmas cooking which included aniseed flavoured carrots and brussel sprout tops. Here is a link to the programme:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03mjzv7 Regards Alan
  3. The best three were in the final stage. Now if they could win a better trophy rather than that naff glitter ball, I was waiting for it to fall to bits when Caroline was holding it up in the air. We went to see the tour a couple of years ago at our local Arena it was well worth the cost being able to see the dancers, costumes and judges. Admittedly you can see better on the TV but you feel part of the show the way that they stage it. Regards Alan
  4. Hi Robin, I loved the video. Do not be surprised if you get multiple tin openers and boxes of plasters as Christmas Presents after that footage. Regards Alan
  5. Tom Selleck was MagnuM PI I see MM is on form again Regards Alan
  6. Hi Grace, Just the rumours I have heard over the years. I could have just said more like the Tom Selleck or Burt Reynolds look. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Alan, I am looking forward to pictures of the flooring. Have a productive weeks hopefully without any mistakes. Regards Alan
  8. Hi Matt, You are a younger fellow so you may not remember that we always used to have snow that deep or deeper each year in the 50's & 60's it used to be that we would take our wooden sledges out of the sheds or outhouses so we could polish up the metal runners ready for the forth coming snow. In the 70's when I was a service engineer and operated in and around the Derbyshire boarders I had to carry chains or grips every winter so I knew I could get home, no fun on the A6 with a foot of snow. I had already put my winter tires on the car when we came down to the boat a couple of weeks ago, just in case. Regards Alan
  9. Many years ago just prior to my business partners wedding my chin was itching so bad that I shaved off my beard, but I kept the moustache, it made me look like a 70's porn star. Tan was not impressed and suggest that I should wear a paper bag until the beard grew back. I am surprised that Griff has shaved it off after all that cash saved on razor blades, a Yorkshire Pound has to be protected at all costs Regards Alan
  10. Hello Martin, Thank you for that, I have duly edited post 17. Regards Alan
  11. Hi Iain, It was like looking in a mirror, but finding an eccentric looking back at me, not as good looking of course. I have not been officially on the tools for almost 35 years, joys of being self employed you turn your hands to anything. Regards Alan
  12. Nice little seasonal story. Please see the following link:- http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/father_christmas_look_alike_hits_the_streets_in_bubble_car_1_3888951 Regards Alan
  13. For an update on this story please see the following link:- http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/video_investigations_continue_as_police_find_man_s_body_in_river_at_bramerton_1_3887555 We saw the boat at Brammerton the week before last. Very sad. regards Alan
  14. Hi Howard, I am surprised they did not moor at the side of you, that usually happens to us when we have the out of season weeks, after saying that we stopped at Loddon Staithe the week before last and we were on our own until a yacht came in for water just as we were setting off in the morning. I must say that you are being fairly lucky with the weather down there, crisp and cold you can be dressed for but continual rain is something else. Regards Alan
  15. Hello Joshly, The Broads Authority must monitor the 24 hour mooring spots especially in the season, I am not too sure they are as strict over the winter, out of season we see a few very old boats (that have seen better days) on the public moorings. You also see a few boats that are obviously live aboards that are moored on private land. On the canal system there are long term moorings on the tow path that are rented out by Canal & River Trust (BWB) at most village locations as well as private moorings on the none tow path side and of course there are the many new marina's that have been built in the last decade. You are correct there is no reference at all regarding the residential mooring on the Broads Authority website. I wish you well if you go down this route. Regards Alan
  16. Ranworth Staithe public toilets are usually closed, not so sure about the ones at Womak Staithe, the ones at Loddon were still open last week. The toilets & showers at the Beccles Yacht Station (get your shower tokens before they close, also remember to get your mooring card stamped, new showers planned for 2015) may be closed earlier than normal due to shorter working hours. Oulton Broad Yacht Station give you a code to get access to the toilets & showers after hours (again get your mooring card stamped) Regards Alan
  17. Hi Strowager, You are correct re the 12 inch laser discs & players made by Phillips they were incorporated in a couple of larger four player video games, one was called the Gauntlet, I have forgotten the name of the other one. They worked well, but would stick at times. I remember the first video game that came out in the mid 70's was called Boot Hill, at the time it cost more than a brand new Ford Escort. Regards Alan
  18. Hi Joshly, I know there are some on the Tingdene Marina and there are the house boats going into Bells Marina, as Mark says you may have to have a look around the many small boat yards on the road past The Yare. Regards Alan
  19. Hello Joshly, In our useful links section of the forum we have three boat searching sites, for more information please see the following link:- http://www.thenorfolkbroads.net/forum/forum/250-boat-listings/ Regards Alan
  20. Very sad news especially with the run up to Christmas, anyone's passing is remembered each year but it away seems worse over Christmas.
  21. There must be people down there with very deep pockets. Rather nice though in a sheltered spot, being off of Wroxham Broad, I am surprised there was not a yacht in the mooring. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Finny welcome back. It could be worse your head could be empty. Regards Alan
  23. Hello W-album, Thank you for posting the links. Ideally it would be better if someone could operate these two boats, rather than them being sold for houseboats. Regards Alan
